If Practiscore had an API and more support for scores-by-squad, it gets a little easier. Anyway, stage/match leaderboards would be a great way to fill any dead time between shooters.

This is really more like "if USPSA would be willing to work with PractiScore on this". They could have it a while ago.

But even now, you have this "scores-by-squad" in the PractiScore Competitor app.

And since this match is posting the scorelogs from ipads, the Competitor app picks updated scores nearly right after stage is scored (assuming wifi at the range hold up)...

  2. Looking at the past years of USPSA classifier changes, they are not going to tell you. But try to contact them and ask. Guessing here won't really give you an answer. 🙂

I would have thought they could take absolute best stage times, aggregate them and give some extra margin to make it tough for GMs.

It wasn't how it was done last year. But then again maybe it wasn't the objective and they just wanted to lure more people to get a GM coin and participate in matches and make money for the org. Low peak times would serve that objective.

What also puzzle me is why no new stages being added...

For me, my look at the numbers in this fashion was based on this topic discussing when (If) there will be adjustments made to the Peak Times sometime this year and also a topic that I had started elsewhere about how often a shooter shots at or below thier classification.

I'm not following what difference does it make how often shooters shoots below their class?

Perhaps a better question to answer first is what is the objective for changing the current peak times?

If the idea is make everyone GM - that is one thing (and you may have a point in your calculations.

But if the goal is to classify competitors relative to the current SCSA achievements - that is a different story (even so some former GMs are shooting at B levels).

  4. IMHO, it makes no difference how many shooters shot their class or below. Some of those classes probably based not on the current, but 2..3 increases before that.

A more interesting picture would be a distribution of the competitor's times broken by the classes percentages taking the current class winner's times. And take 5% from those top times (for GM's 95% threshold).

Unless I missed something the way I understand it now is that SCSA has specific percentage ranges for each class and gun (GM, M, A, B, C)

For SCSA it is not percentages, but the absolute times for combined 8 stages. You can see them under the link "Learn more about our Classification system" at https://scsa.org/classification

For USPSA - individual stage percentages are count towards classification. As well as the major match results relative to the top shooters and if certain conditions are met.

PS: for SCSA, in RF divisions and in some CF divisions the top guns been consistently running well above 100% times. In some cases up to 30% higher

The one gripe I have about the classification system is that it tops out at 100%.  I would really like to easily see the actual % of the top 20 shooters without having to dig up their USPSA# from Practiscore.

Take a look at the PractiScore Competitor app.

It will spare you from all the digging. It also shows the above-100%s and even more stuff you can't see anywhere else.

But really there is nothing stopping you from say shooting a 9mm single stack 1911 drawn from a barely there CR Speed type limited/open holster for the Steel Challenge Limited Division?

That is what I implying. You can shoot same SS gun in both SS and Limited. Not sure if Open has to have the optics...

Similarly the same Prod gun can be run in Prod and Limited. And OS Revolver in OSR and Limited too :)

I mean if that’s all you have at the time.... or if you a .40 call double stacked 2011, shooting .40 seems kinda overkill for SC.

There is no PF in Steel Challenge, so .40 is likely an overkill (unless custom loaded to a puff loads). Though the weight of the gun may play large role. With no stacked up on the same targets they tend to make both Open and Limited guns based on SS frames and lighten them up, I think.

So I gotta ask..... is “SS” single stack 1911’s then?  What’s the difference between that and shooting Limited?  Holster design/placement?

SS has to match uspsa division rules. Like making weight, hoster, etc. But this year had that changed.

I think Luna just shot Limited at Am with his Prod setup to get wormup for Pm Prod run.

Does anyone have squading info? Practiscore takes it down once match starts. Would be nice to match up squads with time of day.

Wouldn't be nice if live stream had that info? As @BritinUSA said, there is a lot of dead air time. They could have used it to show ads and other info about match and competitors. Even live data with results and the current standings. Of course that would require someone actually editing the live stream plus some ahead of time preparation...

The PractiScore website doesn't really take down anything. It's just the link jumps off the registration page. The squadding page is really the same for any match. Just like this:

Well my club is not the only one that is out of date. But I suppose it also depends on the device being used. Are the 100% identical between supported devices?

The "supported" devices are either Android supported by the Android app (including Amazon Fire's) or iOS devices supported by the iOS app....

Between two apps some screen layouts may look a bit different.

  12. 41 minutes ago, broadside72 said:

Not all versions look like that. If there is no M/NS on it and just a single box for steel, tap it and it takes away so it only counts fallen steel

There is no such thing as "all versions". Either you have the current version or you don't. If you see a different screen layout then your tablets are years behind from the current version of the PractiScore app. God know what else is missing or behind in the outdated app version your range is stubbornly using. That may also include some rules specific to the sport.

PS: the scoring layout for steel was changed several years ago when NPMs were added for steel (quite common in IPSC shotgun and generally with moving steel targets)

I think it would rather not have any internet-connected account of any type on here once I put them out, to forestall any Mischief, intentional or accidental.  We have an internal only range Wi-Fi setup, and then to upload to practiscore after the match we connect to one of our phones hot spots, do the upload and then shut off.

So any other advice that anybody wants to give me on exactly how to set these up from scratch that would be awesome.

You do need some Amazon account to be on top of the app updates. Just create one on a separate email. Gmail emails are free to make. Just register one for your club.

In the tablets system settings, change them to not automatically update apps. So, they won't eat up your phone hotspot data.

Time plus scoring is fun as heck in this style match.

I'm waiting to see how that going to work. Generally timeplus lean more on speed (no minor HF scoring, eh?). Unless they are putting a lot more no-shoots and some penalties. Presumably the same penaties as used in MG Nationals or what?
