  1. The swinging target is the same cardboard target as a stationary target dont make it out to more than it is. Minimizing motion and "ambushing" the target is the way to go but don't make moving targets any harder then they need to be. If you tell yourself you will need 8 shots to end up with two A's you more than likely will. Of course if you have never shot a swinger before its going to take a little bit more than positive thought to make your hits. At the match, watch the swinger as much as you can before you shoot to develop a sense of its rhythm and how it slows. Try to get it a practice session with a friend who has a swinger or most clubs have weekly practice nights. These are very valuable opportunities for many reasons. The club has props you dont have to buy and best of all chances are you will be shooting with people that are at a higher skill level and they might be willing to work with you. Getting out a practicing is a big help. I know many people that the match is their "practice." Shooting a match is a great opportunity but having the expectation that your skills will be developed under the stress of the timer is not the best way to make progress. In the end if you can make it to some live fire practice you could always throw together a mock up scaled down swinger to use for dry fire?

In the end it all comes down to it trusting your sight picture and controlling the trigger.

  2. The doctor told me to get blood work at the last visit. I asked if she could add a lead check to the blood work. She asked why and i told her how much I shoot and that I reload. She appreciated that I was concerned about monitoring my lead levels and she didnt give me a hard time about shooting. I have not had a chance to get the blood taken yet.

  3. I forgot about this thread.

SSP MA by way of bump

ESP EX classifier (2.5 seconds out and I hope to have master by the end of summer)

CDP EX by way of bump (Next up after ESP master)

    ESR SS classifier

SSR unclassified and will not tackle until ESR master... so i guess thats never...

  4. I carry a back up to sanctioned matches. It is only a

Bone stock m&p so I try not to use it... The last time I went to use a back up was loans from a friend who happened to be left handed and had swapped the mag release. I noticed it when I was loading and making ready. Needless to say that was one fun shoot house.

  5. Tap rack bang could not fix the problem I was having. I use the speed shooters mag well and base pads. When you get an FTE the gun locks up and you can't move the slide or drop the mag or pull it out. What I had to do was press the mag release and hit my forearm against my thigh forcing these out. I assume it must be a sight to see when I do it. Over the years I have gotten to be quite good at it... I hope to never do it again.

  6. I got the FRE installed and had a chance to run it in practice and a USPSA match tonight. The gun is back up and running with no FTE problems so far. Its going to be great running the gun without having my conscious mind occupied by worries of impending FTEs. Talk about being able to let go! Thanks for all the great advice. My only regret is not buying this part sooner.

  7. Well gents I just ordered one and looked at the install video. It doesn't look like it will be too bad and my gun has the roll pin not he old solid pin so I think I should be able to do it. I thought keeping my gun immaculately clean would solve the problem... It only seemed to make it worse! Im keeping my fingers crossed. I have a sanctioned IDPA match on the 13th that Im hoping to have the gun sorted out for.

  8. I wonder how soon I can get my hands on one of their new barrels for my Pro 9

If you're talking about S&W giving you one ... I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you want a KKM ... give them a call.

No I am willing to buy one. My 4-5 year old factory barrel has 40K through it and could use to be replaced...

  9. After having trouble shooting the classifier well I finally shot an ok one today. My previous best time was a 118 something and I shot a 92.26 tonight. I dont know where I found 26 seconds... Its just a little bit maddening how close it was to master... But, Having never classified anything above Sharp shooter before I am quite pleased. I am SSP MA and CDP EX and they both came by way of bump. I think ESP master is within my reach! ESR now thats another story.

  10. My wife and I hit a yard sale yesterday morning right as it opened and brought home the three little beauties on the left for a VERY reasonable price. Lets just say is was less than the cost of the dual handled trimmer new... The saw all the way to the right was her birthday gift this year. She asked for a chainsaw so I got he the very best. Now we have a his and hers set of trimmers and saws. Did i mention I love years sales?

  11. Did some looking around and found this:

It is a bit wordy at the beginning but the home made mooner that he made is slick. I might just have to try to make one of these as I like to tinker on stuff like this.

  12. I love my 4" 625. I got the JM modle and the trigger left a lot to be desired. I took it to one local smith and it was some what lighter. I brought it to a local shop I trust and they did a real trigger job. It turns out the last guy just did a little polishing and cut the return spring. This time around trusted local shop owner polished the snot out of the inside and put in a wilson spring kit. It is 1000 times better. I wish I could put some cash down and have faster reloads...

I shoot mainly IDPA so something with more than 6 will prevent you from that. I love my 625.

  13. Sometimes you have to give the puller a good thump to get the bullet out of the case. I use the edge of my work bench an hit the same spot each time. The plywood is getting beat up where I hit it with the puller.

  14. I use 4grains of TG with plated 124s. Through a mistake I set my press to 5 grains once by accident... I use a bone stock M&P pro9. Right off the bat the gun felt "a little snappy" and I thought something was wrong. The gun and myself made it through in one piece. After having to pull 300 rounds of 9mm with 5 grains of TG in them I wrote the Correct load on the wall behind the press...
