  1. Dave,

There will be eight stages with four classifiers. I think the round count is more than 150 but less than 200.

I believe a couple of "Rendevous" vets are coming over from Ohio as well. I shot at Miami R&P Sunday and did not even think to bring fliers for our ICORE match. Duh-uh.

  2. Desmark6-Registration is the morning of the match. As you probably guessed by the entry fee, there is no prize table. Come on home to Indiana and have a "wheelie good time".

Rhino-Thanks for lending your celibrity to the match, we are honored. Do you have any requests for your buffet? However I'm not aware of any second run through with a SS. Whatever you and Jeff Brown work out is fine with me. I bet he would be open to the whispers of a top notch scorer... heck, I'll run you through with your SS myself if you can score the match. But you can only load your mags to 6. B)

  3. I tried combining dry fire with live fire, per RA, today.

In general the dry fire times were a little faster than live fire, and the time difference increased as distance was increased.

An interesting note at 25 yards: After a few erratic shots I remembered to wait for the dot to re-appear, or follow through as it is more commonly known. Accuracy went way up and times dropped considerably.

It's a simple Spock brain meld, "Dry fire meets live fire at the range."

    Thanks Ron.

EricW: I embody the 1-3.5 post.

And to answer Spook: Yes there is a huge difference in feel for me between dry fire-range practice- local matches- bigger matches. For me it's probably mostly lack of experience, but it's almost a continium of an out -of-body experience as the challenge increases.

I really liked Ron Ankeny's "bridging" of dry fire with live fire at the range. It probably added an hour to my live fire time but well worth it.

    3QT would really appreciate the "bridging"concept I think. B)

  4. Dillion, that's what I did. I tried putting the flywheel on both ways, about a 1/4 inch from the end. One way it vibrated much more weakly than before, the other barely at all. So is my motor fried?

Especially for Eric, I got the 1/4" distance from looking at 3QT's old brass crimped on model. Mine has the set screw I learned, sorry for any confusion.

  5. This match will be held at the Atlanta Conservation Club about a half an hour north of Indianapolis ( about a mile east of Atlanta on the Hamilton/Tipton county line road) and hosted by Match Director Jeff Brown and Rangemaster Jim Barbour. Registration at 9, shooting begins at 10.

A chilli lunch is provided for the $20 entry fee. There will be 4 classifier stages and you can join ICORE that day. There will also be a "meet the gunsmith" stage with some custom revolvers for trial.

If you are thinking of attending please let us know so we can plan for all to have an enjoyable match.

    Thanks,

    Tom Bergman

  6. That fanwheel thing underneath came off.

I figured out that it has a set screw, it didn't vibrate much so I turned the fanwheel over and it vibrated hardly at all.

I looked at a probably 10 year older model that looked like it had a brass "squeeze-it" to crimp the fanwheel in place.

I'd appreciate any insight or even a smart-aleck remark or two.

  7. I've started experimenting with a used Optima on my 35. It seems to hold a zero ok so far. I'm really only planning on shooting minor loads with it, we'll see how it holds up. So far I like it and so do my kids.
