  1. This past weekend I had two failures to eject. One with a 1550fps 1oz Xtreme slug and one with a 1300fps 1 1/8oz 3.25 dram STS Nitro.

Both times the empty shell was still in line with the bore but with the bolt to the rear and a new shell on the lifter. Reaching in and pulling the empty shell out allowed the bolt to close and chamber the fresh round.

What would cause a failure to eject like this?

I'd say extractor issue. Replace spring with M2.

I plan to do this anyway, but the shell extracted fine, just didn't eject. What makes you think it's the extractor?

  3. I took the pin out to clean under the shell catch at a major match once and promptly lost the little hairpin clip that retains the pin. As an emergency measure, I used the tip of a flat-blade screwdriver across the hole and gave it a tap with the hammer to peen a little notch on both sides of the opening. I figured on replacing the clip when I got back, but a year and a half later it is still just retained by the screwdriver notches haha. Like the plumber's leaky faucet, my shotguns are always the last to get worked on :)

    This is perfect, thanks.

  4. I've seen some guys shoot from this position by hanging the magazine off the lip of the ramp and pulling the magwell into the ramp with their support hand.

What's the advantage to this way vs resting the handguard on the lip or using the magazine as a monopod? I wish I had some pictures to explain what I'm describing.

  5. Will-M.. 24 inch barrel, LM carlson choke, barrel clamp, and truball low velocity slugs . 50yrds=1 1/2 right, 100yrds 5 inch right. A flinch starts up when shooting slugs

Maybe I'm flinching. Shooting 1600FPS 1oz slugs off a bench sucks.

I'm going to try the low recoil again this weekend. Maybe I SHOULD try a barrel clamp and see if it pulls it back in the right direction?

  6. Barrel clamp? That is usually the culprit if it is that far off on windage.

    No barrel clamp.

And selling it would suck because not many people want a cut up shotgun and I could end up with the same problem.

I was shooting off a bench and someone said that might affect POI?

  7. Does anyone have any more ideas on how I can get the Versamax to quad-load easier? The lifter is pressing so hard against the first shell going into the gun that it keeps it from going into the mag tube. Two grown men were unable to get the shell to even move after it wedges itself like that.

Loading one at a time it works smoothly.
