  1. I can't believe they called that last play a fumble....Warner's arm was clearly moving forward before the ball came out.
  2. I should add that I'm a firm believer in depending quite a bit on feel while I'm shooting (or doing anything else for that matter). All I'm saying is there is no reason to exclusively rely on it, and the more feedback you can get from all of your senses, the more aware you're going to be.
  3. Hey guys, so everyone knows from now on, our last squad starts at 7:30. This way we should be able to get everyone done and out of there by 8:20 - 8:30. Scores will be posted as soon as I have EZWinScore in my hands.
  4. Well...I suppose there's an easy way to test this. Next match you shoot, keep your dot off for the duration of it. If nothing else, it'll be an interesting learning experience.
  5. That is awareness. What you're doing is called reification. It is the error of treating as a "real thing" something which is not a real thing, but merely an idea. Don't over complicate things so much.
  6. Well then there must be some mischievous little gremlins or something stowing away in that cargo hatch that like to look at Open guns - because I've had locks cut more than once.
  7. That's my point. I don't differentiate between the two. Awareness is awareness - regardless of where it comes from. Vision is just the avenue which gives us the most feedback while we shoot - and is 100% reliable and repeatable under match conditions. If it isn't repeatable, I don't want to use it come match time.
  8. Focus in itself is limiting. Don't think about vision so 1 dimensionally....vision is only a portion of awareness.
  9. C'mon man. I can tell you from both personal experience during shooting and from talking to the best shooters in the world...they watch their sights. When they don't...they tend to miss. I've had a ton of cops come through my range with these same ideas....and there are a lot of bullet holes in the ceiling to prove it. Instead of telling us what the top shooters do....email them and ask them for yourself.
  10. The reason shooting Open makes you a better shooter is because it gives you the freedom to focus on every other aspect of the game. The fundamentals of shooting are the same whether it's a dot or iron sights.
  11. CrossFit. Functional movement will help you more than just about anything else.
  12. Can you post how you worded the question to him?
  13. I don't really see what 9.4.1 has to do with this at all? edit: figured out you meant 9.1.4 - although section 9 is strictly about scoring. Throw a target at 20 yards...chances are the shooter won't even see the holes in the target to get distracted in the first place. Also, 8.6.4 specifically states may offer the competitor a reshoot of the course of fire. This isn't hard and fast. This is subjective to the scenario - as it should be.
  14. Ryder cup works the same way - and works pretty good. That being said, I still think it should be done by match performance.
  15. I'll bet you a full set of bumpers and a bar. Go back and read Flex's post closely...that counts as "another external influence." As far as I know...temperature counts as controlled by Mother Nature???
  16. Yes...it is. This is an outdoor sport and weather can't be controlled. But if I am shooting a stage and see holes in a target that makes me hesitate - I didn't shoot the same course of fire as everyone else. Weather is one thing. Not pasting a target is a totally seperate issue because that can and is controlled by the people on the range. Rule 4.5.2 also states that match officials must take corrective action to ensure consistency in respect of the range surface, the presentation of targets and/or any other matter. Another example of this....on a gravel range, fault lines tend to get covered. If I get a foot fault because the fault line was covered and I couldn't feel it, you can bet your ass I'm going to argue it. Bingo. Dave, I really agree with you on the vast majority of issues we discuss, but you got this one flat wrong brother.
  17. Act of nature is different than neglecting to paste targets brother.
  18. Reshoot - but personally, I'd have never asked for one.
  19. Yep. Lose the glove and make sure you are solidly behind the gun - driving it to the target.
  20. I'm actually working on a program that is based on stressing the central nervous system before you shoot unsing the principles of coordination, accuracy, agility, and balance. If it works the way I think it will, the intensity will be at a high enough level to trigger better adaptation. Since shooting is directly controlled by the central nervous system, I figure there are 2 ways we can stress the intensity. A - Stress the CNS before you shoot and B - Increase the area of acceptability while you shoot while still making you goal to shoot Alphas.
  21. I don't think having a "favorite" drill is a very good idea. Strive to keep your practice routine as constantly varied as possible. So in essence, make sure your "routine" is not a routine at all.
  22. Results will be up as soon as certain people get the damn affiliation packet sent into USPSA and I get EZWinScore. Tom, For now, Tuesday night is all we are doing for the next 5 weeks. I'll post here if anything changes.
  23. I would save your money until you can buy some bumpers...it's an absolutely world of difference in what it allows you to do.
  24. Jeff LaFave recommends using a porta-potty. Preferably at Area 2.
