  1. If you feel comfortable with doing the reloads I would go ahead with the single stack. (You do more reloads in places that make it somewhat easier to break the 180 with a single stack than with equipment that extra rounds in divisions like Limited give you.)

That seems to be a common issue with people new to the sport. It took me a while to really become conscious of the 180 while reloading. I started out with very little gun-handling experience. You may be just fine. Some people are.

In any case, have fun & be safe! I hope to see you at Chilli sometime!

  2. Welcome!

Other people may have other opinions, but this is what I would do.

I would not use the revolver.

I would join USPSA & see if you get a Safariland Certificate. If so, I would buy a holster for the SR9 or FNX & use that for now.

I would buy some cheap Uncle Mike's mag pouches for double-stack mags.

I would load up your mags to full capacity, sign up in Limited shooting minor & shoot some matches very slowly & carefully.

After you see how things work I would then decide what division & gun you want to shoot in.

I would probably end up in Single Stack division with the SA Loaded 1911, but that is me.

Shooters Connection ships very quickly to Central Illinois.

I hope to see you at some of the matches around.

Hope this helps. Others may have different advice.

I would soak up all the good stuff in this forum, especially the 1st post in this this about your first match.

    Dirk
