  1. I'm shooting in tactical class. The rules state that: Tactical Rifle 1. Not more than one (1) electronic or optical sight is permitted 2. A supplemental magnifier may be used with the permitted optical sight provided the magnifier does not contain an aiming reticle, cannot be used as an aiming device by itself, and remains mounted in the same location on the rifle for the duration of the event. A participant may use the magnifier in either the magnified or unmagnified mode without restriction Since they rules don't specifically address iron sights, am I good to go with a set of offset irons and a magnified optic? Optical sight only refers to an optic,(scope, or red-dot sight)not iron sights, right? Just wanted to clarify since I am fixing to change my rifle setup.
  2. My check cleared too. Can't wait, its gonna be fun like it always is. This will be my fourth LT match.
  3. What choke were you running? It can be a game changer if you swap it. Factory Modified choke. Improved groups even higher. Would an extended Briley Modified make much difference?
  4. I just used my SLP to shoot the LT 3Gun. I brought Federal bulk pack slugs, and remington sluggers and could'nt hit the broad side of a barn. I scrounged up some winchester ranger reduced recoil slugs, and had no problems. Talking to some of the FN shooters, they recommended that I "bury" the front sight post halfway below the bottom of the v-notch to get POA/POI with slugs. I did this for the rest of the match, and did'nt have any more problems making steel fall. I attempted to zero with the federal and remington ammo, but the best I could do with that was 14" high and 6" right. I will definately be looking for a better slug for my SLP, and might even swap out the sights.
  5. For those coming in late Friday night, will registration be at the host hotel? Or at the range bright and shiny saturday morning?
  6. I have an FN SLP MK1. I cant get the sights to zero at 50 with Win bulk pack slugs. It shoots about 10-12 inches high at 50. Rear sight is maxed out, and I dont want to have to hold low for good hits at 50. I don't think I have ever had to shoot a stage where slug targets were farther than 60 yards or so. My question is, what replacement sight height do I need? The factory sight is .312 high, and replacement choices are .343, .375, and .410. I know it would seem easier to try other slugs, but the Winchester bulk packs are cheap, and easy to find. How much of a change in sight height would lower POI 10-12 inches? 7. Is this what you guys are talking about: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=918352 Its the only reduced recoil I could find, but it is 7/8 oz., not 1 oz.
  8. Thanks for the input guys. I at least know where to start now.
  9. Tried some of the Winchester bulk pack 1 oz rifled slugs (1600 fps) in my SLP, and they shoot 12 inches high at 50 with the rear sight bottomed out. The problem seems to be that with the rear sight bottomed out, I cannot get my cheekweld low enough to put the dot low enough in the v-notch. I contacted FN, they said that the SX2 stock shims will not fit the SLP due to a difference in the stock. FN's suggestion was that I should try out different slugs to see which ones shoot the tightest group at POA/POI. Before I go and spend a bunch of money on slugs I wanted to narrow it down to just a few. I am a little dissapointed that it does not like the walmart bulk pack slugs since they are both cheap and easy to find. SLP owners, what slugs seem to work the best for your gun? Oh, and I have tried both the modified and improved chokes that came with the gun. The Modified brings the POI down a bit, but not much.
