  1. I purchases a P1640 stainless Limited model in March of this year. It was a second hand gun but it had not been shot much at all, it looked new. The previous owner replaced the mag release button and the trigger set. I installed a Ice magwell and DP mag bases on the mags. I have over 5000 rds through it. I had one problem at a windy match in Bend OR., it got dirty and choked on a stage. I cleaned it, and it had run 100% before and since then.

  2. If we all practice more we could be come part of the "FEW" ;)

Ivan if we "all" practiced and we "all" got better then we still have a "FEW" winners. :P:D

I also feel that it would do away with a lot of the sandbagging, not all, but a lot. If someone can sandbag and have a greater chance at winning a pistol rather then a ribbon that is a huge temptation that a lot of people can't pass up, just look at some of the division and class winning scores shot at the big matches. Just my .02 cents worth.

  3. Man if the match directors would drop the prizes table and, or plaques and go with the .50 cent ribbons I could go to more of the big matches. What are we after, as far as a organization (USPSA) more participation or prizes for the few?

  4. I saw Doug Koenig on a S&W commercial advertising the S&W1911. So it maybe interesting to see what they do with Koenig. Keep him shooting the 1911 or maybe do a push on a different model for production division, or both.

  5. Hi Bob I'm fairly new to USPSA and Front Sight, so if this has been used in a Front sight article recently then forget that I mentioned it. :) What I would like to see is a article or series of articles on some of the backup parts that we as competitor should keep in our range bags....such as an extractor and how to go about tuning a backup. The slide stop and how to fit it, and or any other parts that may go bad that can usually be replaced at a match.

    Thanks

  6. Well I ordered the DP Ice on the 21st from Chuck at Shooters and got it last night. Thanks L1011 for clueing me on shooters price. 20 minutes after I opened the box I had it on. Man it fits like a glove. I have 3 of the Para +2 mags and 2 mags with the Arredondoe +2 and I'm going to have to do some trimming to get them to seat. The Ice came with instructions on how to do the mod's so that should be pretty easy. It does fee better then I thought it would, but there is a definite difference in the feel.

Thanks for all of the input. I think it's going to work. :)

  7. I got busted on one of those stupid photo radar speed traps doing 45 in a 35 in the Socialist republic of Beaverton OR. Since the ticket was given with a automated system they even provide a on line system to pay your fine. VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER card. What a bunch of money Grubbing @#$%!!!!

  8. Thanks everybody I talked to Run-n-Gun yesterday afternoon and he convenced me to hold out he wants one more crack at the Ed Brown before I order the DP. Again thanks for all of the Great Info. If anybody has anything to add I'm still all ears..... or eyes :)

  9. I have a p16-40 Limited That I'm trying to put a Magwell on. I started out ording a SA and when I got it I didn't like the idea of shortening the grip because of my beefy hands. So I returned it and got an Ed Brown which with the words drop in attached I thought that this might be what I'm looking for....NOT!!! After Run-n-Gun and I worked on it for a couple of hours with some files, we got it to fit but not accept the mags. So here I am, is it worth another couple of hours of file work or do I just order something else? Who has the DP Ice or DP's standard one, and what did you have to do to fit it, and did you lose any grip area? Or is there something that I'm totally missing.

    Thanks Steve

  10. I use the same combination of mags that Rhino has and they have worked flawlessly for over 25,000 rds. My shooting bub just bought some of the Tripp mags and likes them, but he also has CMC that work as well. You will also find that there are a lot of Wilson users here that will only use Wilsons. I guess the secret is find what works for you and your 1911 and stick with it.
