      Yep, and that's exactly the time that the huge bull elk we've been tracking will step out in the open.

    Been there and done that, except it was a very nice Mule deer Buck.  The good news is I can shoot with my pants down around my ankles.

  2. Steve I agree with the fact that we do want them to come back.  As the match director of our monthly club match we average 12 to 15 shooter a month and when a new shooter shows up he is assigned a mentor to follow through out the match and the mentor guides him through.

    This has helped out dramatically  as far as saftey issues are concerned.  But back to the question at hand yes the shooter is our customer!  But the customer is not always right.  At club matches WE are the customers because we are the shooters and the RO's.  If it's a saftey Issue the RO is "GOD".  If it a technical question we have a 3 man committee that checks the rule book and makes a decision.  This has only happened a couple of times in the past 5 years that I have run the matches,

    and it's usually concerning stage set up.

  3. This is the loads suggested by Hodgdon from their website for the 40 S&W and the 45acp

    180 GR. HDY XTP           COL: 1.125"

    Powder            grains           Vel                  CUP

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    UNIVERSAL       5.8             1046               33,400 PSI
    Hodgdon doesn't list a load for the 45 with a lead 200gr SWC but this is what the do have:
    200 GR. SPR JHP        COL: 1.155"
    Powder            grains      Vel              CUP
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    UNIVERSAL        6.7          930           17,200 CUP

    According to Hodgdon these are MAX loads, so reduce your starting load by 10% to 15%.  BTW let me know how it works out.  I've been using clays in my 45acp for a couple of years, and it works great.

  4. It' funny to hear that there are only a few women master shooters.  For years I shot in rifle competition and coached, and I found that women (girls) are much easier to teach rifle shooting to, they come in with a clean slate no preconceived ideas on how to shoot and are much more willing to listen.  As far as pistol shooting I have no coaching expirence.  But I would assume it would be the same?  I know that college rifle teams have quite a few women shooters.

  5. Hi folks!

    The other day i was thumbing through some load data that I found and it had some data for win 540 for the .40 s&w  180 gr jacketed from 6.2 to 6.9 grains.  Have any of you had any experience with this combination.  The reason I ask is that I have about 6 lbs. of an 8 lb keg that I forgot I had.  Any experience or comments would be great.  ;)

    Thanks in advance
