I have cast bullets for many years both pistol and rifle, but I don't have a clue as to what a laser cast bullet is as opposed to a regular cast bullet. I see them advertived and for sale in catologs. Could some one please tell me what a laser cast bullet is..thank you..
Laser Cast is a trademark of Oregon Trail Bullet Co., excellent bullets but a little too spendy for me

Dude
Rock that commander!
I shoot a 5 inch 1911 but I used to carry and shoot a commander regularly.
There really is no disadvantage to using one except:
If you get into adjustable sights, you might as well start looking into a longer blaster
If your gun is a lightweight (aluminum version) it might, might wear quicker but you will need to shoot alot of factory powered ammo to really have a problem
It's the indian not the arrow
PS If you have the money, get a 5 in gun too
The commander is all stainless steel. I had thought about the lightweight version but when I thought more about I figured that the heavier version might recoil less.
The commander is my daily carry and what I happen to own right now. I do plan on getting a 5" with adjustable sights and keep up the single stack but I have to get the money first. I want to go the distance and get a Nighthawk or similar brand.
I already reload for .45 is one of the reasons for sticking with single stack. I really have no desire for a .40 or to load it so I am going to spend the money on a nice single stack.
No desire for .40 and want a nice single stack? you sound like me. Maybe this attitude would get us into the Single Stack Elitist Society...Kirby

Those old school guns still appeal to some of us old farts .I think Wilson Combat still offers that gun and some versions of it (from full-size to Commander to bob-tailed).Pretty wild.
Wilson only offers a comp on a Commander or officer sized 1911, and it's not a full profile comp...too bad or I'd buy one. Regards, Kirby

That's an old school gun.
I ordered it in 1984 and tool delivery in 1986.
The beavertail is maybe Safari Arms?? I think there was only one or two brands back then. Steve cut it for a higher grip. I can take more pics of the beavertail if you want them. Or I can bring it to Rayners in June.
The base pad on the stainless 7 round mag is 2 thicknesses of leather. Probably all I could afford after paying for the gun. Notice the gamer 8 round Devel mag. That was the hot trick then.
kar45, what kind of bounty? Of course it isn't costing me anything sitting in the safe and it's a good conversation piece.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors Nastoff 45 compgun....nor anything that is thy neighbors.(had to remind myself of this)Regards, Kirby

kar45, you mean like this one?
You low-life dog...

Do we need a vintage division?
Some of the most beautiful open blasters were from that 1989-1993 with iron sites.
Or, am I just a hopeless romantic!

How about a Steve Nastoff dual port 45 with Bomars and 30 lpi checkering built on a 70 series Colt? That would get me wet and drippy....Kirby

I ordered some One Shot from Midway and got the Hornady One Shot gun cleaner and dry lube. Is this the same stuff as Hornady's One Shot Case lube or at the very least, can it be used in the same manner as case lube?
It works fine for me, smells better too. Regards, Kirby

I am trying to find load data to use clays to load my .357 sig and I cannot find anything. Does anyone have a load for this or is it not safe. If not safe let me know why.
Thanks
Clays is NOT suitable for 357Sig. A good friend of mine mistakenly substituted Clays for Universal. One shot kaboom, HiPower 357Sig destroyed. Luckily no one was injured. I was standing 15 feet behind him, scared the crap out of us. Regards, Kirby

I think Jesus's story would have been much more interesting if he had a gun.
Yeah, he coulda shot back rather than get nailed to the cross
In all the reverence I can possibly muster, Jesus would shoot a Wilson Combat Supergrade 1911 with case-colored frame. .45, of course. Regards, Kirby

Nobody's panties are in a bunch Rich.
I was afraid one of them was about to 'open a jar of whoop-ass'(not sure which one). I have been enjoying both of their well thought out, articulate posts. Also those of DCarden, Venry, HSmith and Flexmoney. Regards, Kirby

I am just about out of Ranier 125 gr fp bullets. Have enjoyed them in my M&P 340 J-frame. Found 4.9 gr of 231 to be the most accurate load. I am thinking of ordering some 158 grain round nose flat points from S&S Castings. Anyone have experience with these? How is their quality? I am using a Dillon RL 550 B. I will be shooting them in the M&P & a Ruger Security Six for target shooting. Thanks in advance.
The .45 230 RNL I received from S&S are excellent quality, and he shipped when he said he would. Regards, Kirby

How many threads can you read about "show us pictures of your Model 10"? Booooring.
Okay, I just gotta know who added the Model 10 reference under my avatar
My M10 is better looking than your M10...

Try the Hornaday One-Shot Cleaner-Lubricant. It doesn't have the stinky-foot odor that the case lube has. Kirby

1977 at the Fort Harmar Rifle Club in Marietta, Ohio. Shooting with Ken Hackathorn, Rick Miller and those guys. Was 24 back then...Regards, Kirby

I value all the responses the post has been getting. This information from those who have been there ... done that ...... is priceless. It helps me with my decision making and spares me the time and expense of testing several different gun powders. I am fortunate to have this web site, and it's members who are willing to take the time and help another rookie rifle reloader.
Reloading components are hard to find in my area. I'm afraid it's a taste of things to come this year for us shooters and wonder what will happen to competitive shooting. I've loaded a million handgun rounds but this is my first shot at loading 308 rifle. I have a whole new respect for the rifle reloader in the case prep alone!
Thanks again and keep adding to the post!
If you are looking for accuracy, try 43.0 W748, Lake City match brass, F210M, seat your 168s to 2.800. Regards, Kirby
