Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Yes, they each refer to the length of reach. I tried them each out at Henning's shop and surprisingly, although I have large hands, I liked the medium one rather than the long one the best.
  2. I visited him in his shop last week where he was very helpful with my new Witness Ltd and very gracious of his time. Both his email and his office phone are on his web site and he returned a call and text from me before I dropped by. He's very busy, while I was there he received several phone calls and messages.
  3. Charlie, Many disc herniations will improve over time without intervention. I've had a diffuse bulging disc (not as focal as a disc herniation) with intermittent right thumb pain and numbness and occ. lateral arm pain for several years. It comes and goes. It's amazing how often I see follow up MRI's where the disc pathology is improved without therapy. It is also conversely true that pt's can get worse symptomatically where their MR images are the same or better. So make sure to be treated based on symptoms, not images. You can ask your MD if epidural injections are an option, they often work and IMO are a MUCH better first (or second) choice than discectomy and anterior cervical fusion. Another option that often works for many people, including me, is physical therapy - you just need to find the right person. In fact, I would not let anyone convince me of the necessity of surgery unless I have persistent muscle weakness and atrophy (in the nerve distribution of the cervical disc level) and/or severe sensory loss. I'd never let anyone talk me into surgery just for pain. Just my .02. You can call me if you have other questions.
  4. JJH, I'm all over the Gold Team and other guns listed under the Witness Elite tab. I was replying to glk's post that other open guns may be listed there since I can't find them. Looks like that's if. Thx.
  5. Thx for the hlep Glk, re: EAA's website - Mind pointing me to a link? I've looked all throught eaacorp.com but may have missed it.
  6. I called EAA this AM to discuss their Open gun (see my other post) and asked them a little about the guns they import from Tanfoglio (the Open gun is backordered 90 days so I asked if any other ones were available). The woman on the phone told me that there will soon be another entity (once she called it a "subsidiary" of EAA and then later an "affiliated" company) called IFG (Italian Firearms Group) which will be importing a "whole different" line of Tanfoglio guns including a different Open gun. It's not clear if these are existing or new Tanfo guns, nothing is announced on the Tanfoglio web site. She was unable to give me any more info or details and said everyone is coming back from the SHOT show (must be a slow plane), where it was supposedly announced, and will be available for discussion if I called back next week. I really wonder if this is in fact a new competitor for EAA rather than one with any connection. Does anyone know anything about this, was it shown or seen at the SHOT show? Here's what a brief Google search shows: http://www.tactical-life.com/online/news/four-italian-firearms-producers-join-forces-to-import-and-distribute-products-to-us-market/?hp=news_title Tanfo was at SHOT 2011, booth 11934: http://www.tanfoglio.it/eng/news/shot-show-2011.html
  7. Please help a confused new member regarding these Open guns. These are my conclusions, correct or incorrect, after reviewing most of the EAA posts in the two subforums, and vendor web sites. I'm thinking about getting one so please offer any corrections or suggestions. I'll be taking my .40 Witness Ltd to Henning next week for a visit, so will also discuss with him then. 1. Currently imported open gun to the US is the EAA Gold Team in 9mm, .38 super rimless, .40 and .45. 2. Tanfoglio shows the Gold Custom Eric and Eric 2007 on their web site, which I presume are not importable into the US? 3. Are any of these Tanfo guns available on Gun Broker etc? 4. V8 and V12 guns - ?? same non-US Tanfo guns or something else? 5. The only 9mm Open option is the large frame EAA Gold Team one which is said to work very poorly with current mags. Thx.
  8. Mo, Digging this up from the deep archives. Nice gun, what grips are those? I've not seen that color before. Thx.
  9. G man, I have a question about the logistics of how you run of 10 or 20 charges and measure them. For discussion, assume I'm talking about the 550 set up here: Do you run each brass through stations 1 and 2, and (with the locater pin removed) remove them from the powder station 2 after each charge? Or do you go to 3 (obviously adding no bullet) and check them there, or all the way around the cycle and out to the bin? The latter would perhaps be the easiest but catching the shell before it drops down the slide spilling the powder into the collection bin seems problematic. I expect the answer is to check them at station 2 after the powder drop, but I have the hardest time getting my hand into that location to remove and/or replace brass. Thx.
  10. I caught up here at work and had some time to do some searches and found these which seems to answer my question. I'll keep looking for some more search results if more time opens up. My apologies for not doing so from the outset. Thx for all help. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=111680&st=0&p=1274083&hl=static%20electricity&fromsearch=1entry1274083 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56169&st=0&p=651592&hl=static%20electricity&fromsearch=1entry651592 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39810&st=0&p=453696&hl=static%20electricity&fromsearch=1entry453696 And Tom Freeman's (fellow Coloradoan) post about polishing powder measure and ant-static: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41727&hl=
  11. Also, I live in Colorado where in the dry, cold winter there's lots of static electricity. Could static be an issue? I've noticed several residual grains in both the powder cup and brass when I weigh individual loads, which I try to get completely out. I've never noticed any powder stuck to the side walls of the powder container but maybe in the tube or powder bar? If so, any solutions? I could wipe the inside of the powder container with a laundry Bounce but that wouldn't affect the drop tube. Thx.
  12. Thx for replies and advice. The powder funnel is new, in fact the entire caliber conversion kit is new, fresh out of the box and now on my 550 with the .38 SC on on the stand.
  13. What are other's experience with the way N320 meters? I've read it's a pretty good metering powder but while working up a starting load for a new .40 limited gun, I've had weighed charges ranging from 4.3 - 4.8 grs, with most averaging around my starting load of 4.5 gr. This is surprising to me since on my 550 my open load with 7625 meters within +/- .1 grain pretty much for an entire load batch. Thx.
  14. I use the U die in station one on my 550's. Thx Bob. Then the EGW die has a primer decapper - which I assume can be removed if the die is used in station 2 on the 650??
  15. Newb question, I'm sure somewhere in the search files but I can only find one specific mention - Where are folks using the EGW dies? I see Cha Lee has his on station 2 on his 650. Others in the same place? And what about the 550? Or on a separate press. Thx.
