  1. I have no idea but I like to use synthetic white grease. It seems cleaner and thinner and the press seems to like it. I use it in trailer wheel bearings and they run much cooler.
  2. I've been pretty quiet on this forum but I'll share what I found works for me. My old way. Station 1. Lee size/deprime 2. Powder drop NO expander 3. Lee Powder thru expander die with a homemade powder check system through the die. 4 Seat 5. crimp. New way (this works best for me) 1. Hornady size/deprime 2.Hornady expander/bell 3. powder drop 4. RCBS powder cop 5. Hornady seat and crimp. This has given me the most consistent ammo.
  3. The gun appears clean. Also, it doesn't work either single or double action.
  4. My son has a Walther P99 that just quit releasing the sear one day at the range. The trigger has a slight click to it but travels all the way rearward without releasing the sear. Does anyone have any idea of what might be the problem? Thanks much!

    SP101

Kevin I own a SP101 and replaced the factory grips with Trausch grips. 357's don't hurt anymore. You may want to give them a try for both you and your wife. Note that they are a little larger than factory grips but do make a world of difference in felt recoil and muzzle control.
  6. I'm not sure what S&W policy is, but after 3 returns I would start insisting on a new gun. The vast majority of them run right out of the box without incident. If they can't figure out how to fix the gun (and properly test it before returning it) it's time to step up and make it right. Thats pretty much what I think. The customer service guy I spoke with this morning must have had a really bad weekend. He is the only SW employee that has been short/rude to me. He raised his voice and all he would say is I'LL SEND YOU A RETURN LABEL. He didn't want to spend any time listening to a description of the problem. He just added fuel to my fire. I have been nothing but polite to all the folks I've spoken to. I spent 30 years tracking down intermittent problems and know they are difficult. I am going to call tomorrow and speak to someone else. My thought is if one of SW sponsored pros was having this problem, would it take them 4 times to fix the gun? I think NOT. Surely they have someone in their pro shop who knows the cure for the problem. Either they get the gun to someone who knows how to fix it or give me a new one.
  7. My Pro has already been sent to SW 3 times to fix the same lack of striker being reset problem. It always fails within 2 range sessions after getting the gun back from being "repaired". It is going back for the 4th time now. It also had a bad barrel from the factory that had to be replaced. At this point I'm thinking I may have made a purchase mistake. I sure do hope they fix it because I really like the gun. Does anyone know of a sure cure for this problem not involving returning the gun to the factory? Any smiths figured out the repair?
  8. Somewhere on some forum I read and looked at picture of a cure someone had come up with for my problem. I cant find it now even using the search features. The problem: when loading 380's the retainer spring at station 5 slips under the case causing it to lean toward the center of the press. I know someone had come up with the cure. Does anyone here know where I can find this information?
