  1. Im at 290. A question of curiosity.....Are international shooters taking perference over US shooters on the wait list? Bill Nope. The waitlist is just that: first come, first served. Troy Don’t get me wrong I love shooting with and meeting international shooters. I have shot 1990 Australia and 2008 Bali world shoots. Yes…. I was begging for a slot then too. I love to shoot other international matches when I can and allowed. With slots so hard to get to US Nationals and since many of us US shooters don’t have opportunities to earn slots but would shoot if slots were available. Would my thought process be flawed if I suggested that only slots NOT wanted by US shooters go to international shooters regardless of who and status? Bill

  3. Standing start to prone, 10 yds weakhand, Virginia count? Now there is a shooting position you don't see very often! I've never even tried stronghand/weakhand prone, but you can bet I will before June. Define prone? Umm---face down, toes, knees and belt buckle in contact with the ground?? Why do you ask? Thinking of doing the "on your back and shoot between the toes" position?. There's a name for that--Supine. Tim? Troy?---you want to jump in here? Kneeling is defined in the rules, but not prone. Hey Open, Not sure how I would shoot it yet, it would depend on height of targets grade/slop of range etc...... might even consider on the side similar to roll over prone who knows, looks to be only a forward fault line....just thought I would like to see a definition for prone. 5. I recall seeing bullets flying down range in the past. The problem I have recently noticed since I started shooting again is when it happens, I zoom in on the bullet and follow it to the target. I call the shot when the sight lifted but also verified the call by watching the bullet hit the target. I think this is bad. I believe this is a distraction that I must avoid. Seeing the bullet is one thing, but letting it distract me for that mili-second is not good. I think seeing the bullet hit the target is good , but not the distraction…Im looking at the wrong thing instead of being aware of it… I think I might be full of crap……. Jack, your not the young man I knew from kodiac are you? Bill Filiaga TY27467
  6. Hi fellow shooters, I am sitting here with a fifth of CR R, reflecting upon 2008, next to a key board (this could be bad). During the year 2002 I got burned out with the practical shooting stuff. I haven’t shot my Limited pistol since 2001. I shot a couple of local matches in 05, 06 & 07 with my carry guns (1911’s) just to keep in touch with my trigger. Living here in Alaska I had revived some old hobbies..Hunting, Camping, Fishing and Boating. Shooting was….. well…. It was. Some of the local IPSC shooters spiked my interest in shooting again. I was surfing online and read that the World Shoot 2008 was in Bali. I figured what a place to celebrate Kathleens and my 25 year anniversary. Did you youngs buck catch that? A chance to shoot and make the wife happy too!!!I contacted Mike Voight and he said I could have a slot if I wanted. Holy crap, now I have to get serious…..my first major match since the 99 nationals in Vegas. What to shoot? I decided not to shoot my STI limited pistol, I recalled it was really finicky with ammo and I wasn’t sure that I could get my loaded ammo to Bali without incident. The ammo question and the avalibility of Match Ammo made my decision to shoot production easier. Which pistol to shoot? I tried several versions of plastic frames but setteled for the CZ Shadow. It was a good choice, however it took me a couple of months to get over allowing the double action determining which target I shoot first, rather then – the prefered target to shoot first. Boy do I suck. I quickly reliazed how rusty I am. Not to mention the effect of age and body configuration. Yea, i know its only be a few years, but I also quit smoking in 2001 and put on 50lbs plus the eyes require bi focals now. Yea, its like riding a bike but there are a whole bunch of new obsticals, challanges to overcome. IPSC shooting sure has changed since the 1990 Austrailia WS IV, yep this is my 2nd WS. Friggin weird targets and lots of movement backwards……Its cool though…. I did not DQ the WS. Saw some old faces but mostly a whole slew of new ones. The scenery at the top has changed a bit. I must say our youth shooters are great. I had the chance to talk to a few of them. I also had the pleasure of being squaded with Daniel Horner. What a supurb representive of our country and sport. So now Im sitting here. Hooked once again and reading BE website. I have put up the production gun for now. It sits next to my limited pistol. I shot a match & classifier in Anchorage last month with my single stack. I did ok, its defiantly a different ballgame with just 8 fat pills in the mag. A couple of days ago I sent in my 2009 SS Nationals registration form ( hope I get a slot). I think single stack is a good thing. Guess now I have to fire up my Dillon 650 and get to practicing. Damm you guys……..my wife is not looking forward to this addiction again, she was cool with Bali though. Bill Filiaga TY 27467 Fairbanks Alaska
