  1. I use the houge grip on my 34. I have grip tape underneath on just one side to help hold the houge in place. I used to have it on both sides of the grip, but it makes it wide enough to the point were the production box with the minimum dimensions was not quite closing all the way shut with the gun inside. It doesn't take much to make the grip too wide, or illegal in production.

  2. For the price, I think that GTUL is a rip off. It's just taking advantage of people who don't know the right way to take the mags apart. 5/32 punch is all you need. Force the follower out of the way by pushing all the way in and then press the sides of the mag tube while you use the punch to pry the plate off in the opposite direction it went on. Then just use one of those dawson brushes that only costs 12 bucks instead of 25.

  3. One of my shooting partners had a couple and he had the base plate blow off in the middle of a stage causing all the rounds to come out. He didn't even have 50 rounds through the magazine when it happened. <_<

  4. Ben-

    Question-

On Stage 2 of the MN section match (it was the one with all the hardcover targets about 5 yards away with lots of little walls to divide them up and you had to shoot on the move going down the shooting area.)

I noticed that you and a lot of the open shooters immediately ran all the way to the left past the middle targets and then started shooting the targets from left to right. In hindsight this was the faster way to shoot it, but It seems like wasted movement on a stage like that. Just wondering what made you decide to shoot it that way?

    Thanks

    Congrats on the good weekend!

  5. I've seen them break in half in .40 glocks before and the half that is not under spring tension from the slide stop spring falls out but the gun will continue to work fine. I haven't seen one break in a 9 yet but I'm sure it's possible and maybe they bend before they break. Just try a new pin for awhile and keep an eye on it. Did you buy the gun new or was it used?

  6. Don't be afraid of the ghost rocket. I shot on your squad at Area 3 and I run the 3.5 with overtravel stop all the time with no problems in my G34.

Glad to hear you got it figured out.

  7. Everybody is a little different. The .215 shoots to point of aim for me using 124 and 147 gr American Eagle. I use the top of the sight on my G34. However I tried this setup on a G17 and it shot about 5 inches low for me at 11 yards on plates at a GSSF match. I don't know if the sight radius made that big of a difference between the guns but I had to get a shorter sight for my G17.

    Hope it helps

  8. The prefix on mine was "FDS" purchased in 2003 I believe. My department has about 20 that are the same vintage, mine has been the only one to pitch a rail, but it has been shot more than the rest of them too. It's just one of those things that can happen, but doesn't very often.

  9. My G22 for work did the same thing to me during a qualification, the left rear frame rail broke off. The piece stayed inside the gun and it would continue to shoot, but I had to rack the slide after every shot. This pistol had about 6K through it at the time, but we all know the .40 S&W is a lot harder on the pistols than 9mm is.

I sent it in and they replaced it and a lot of the internal springs for free. It does have a new serial number now and still shoots great. The new serial number starts with the letter "G" followed by 5 numbers.

One bit of advice though, is I would take anything that is not stock off the gun before you send it off, or you probably wont get it back.

  10. I've been using these for about a year and a half now. I rotate using the regular grippers and the IMTUG's for individual finger strength. I think it helped my WHO and SHO shooting quite a bit. I'm interested to see how I do at Area 3 coming up that will be the first large match (14 stages) that I will shoot. I don't ever get tired arms or hands shooting the 6 stage matches I usually do so I want to see how it goes at the longer matches in the high heat.

  11. I had waited a long time to see this movie and just watched it. I thought it developed very slow and was a total let down. I kept waiting for the big show and all we got was a remake of lonesome doves dead man's walk which also sucked. 2 out of 5 stars, and next time I see Denzel I'm gonna want my two hours back.

  12. Is there really nothing else to do around the house except play darts and chat? Are the competitors allowed to drink in the house? They should have a range behind the house with everything from slingshots to tomahawk missles for them all to have side matches and practice. + it would make the show more entertaining with more shooting to watch.

  13. It was cool to see you on TV tonight, the promo for next week looks entertaining to say the least. Congrats, I think you and your Beretta are officially famous.

  14. Train as you live, live as you train. Heaven forbid that a practical shooter may have to use his skills to someday protect his family or his partners or himself. Use both, leave it as it is, it's a good target. Firearms are here to stay in America, let the good people learn how to use them and where to aim them.

  15. I've been required to carry a G22 for work since 2003 and I like it, but when it comes to USPSA style shooting, I fell in love with the G34. Sight radius is nice, yes, but it also has much better balance to me whether your reloading on the move or just the pointability of it when shooting stand and shoot classifiers or stages from behind walls. If your going to do any GSSF shooting though, you should get a G17 because a G34 goes right into the competition division.
