  1. +1 on the captains of crush grippers. I think it has helped out my overall grip and has helped my weak hand only shooting quite a bit. These are no comparison to the gripper you buy in the sporting goods department in wal mart. The IMTUGS are also really nice because they isolate your two fingers and get the thumb involved as well to improve your pinching grip

  2. Had the chance to shoot one of the 4th gen's. I liked it. I think the backstrap configuration and the way that they are attached are better than the competitions. The new recoil spring seems ok and they claim reliability improvements over the old springs, which would be good for duty weapons, but competition shooters will not be able to use different springs or guide rods (til the aftermarket catches up) as the new assembly is a different size. The mag release was a little easier to use compared to the old standard release, but you can't put an extended size in (such as a large frame release). The grip texture is pretty aggressive and I doubt that most shooters would need grip tape, so I liked that. Aftermarket mag wells will not fit, so that will have to catch up also. The price is unchanged, unlike some (XDM's v XD). Overall, I think they did a very job and the new guns address pretty much any complaints that I have heard over the 3rd gen's. I plan to continue with my 3rd gen's for now (at least until aftermarket catches up), but I bet most shooters would pick the 4th gen's when given the choice.

How is the mag release different? Wider? Bigger?

  3. I would suggest going to a shoe store and just trying on a bunch of different cleats until you find some that are very comfortable.

Merrell is another brand that is very comfortable, provides great traction and they have a ton of different styles to choose from. More flexability and comfort than cleats.

  4. I've been debating about getting into airsoft for some time. I would like to get one that is identical to the G34 I shoot with a red FO front but I can't find anybody that sells a glock airsoft that is a G34 copy.

Is there a company that makes one? Can you put different sights on them?

  5. Just saw a Glock ad in a LE magazine that was advertising the RTF2 grip frame. I think that must be what their calling the new one. The finger grooves were there, but they looked smaller than the Gen 3's. The RTF stipling looked like a slightly different design and less sharp. It didn't show the back of the frame where the new inserts are supposed to be

  6. I love the finger grooves with a houge slip on over the top to get a little more of a sticky feel to the grip :)

From what it sounds like, the new frame might be a combination of the short frame idea and the RTF idea with different sized backstraps added to the mix.

  7. Arguably the best upgrade you can make to your G34. I love my warren tactical rear with a red FO front. I really like how the rear sight is rounded off at the top right and left edge, it seems to help me get a better sight picture because I can see more of the target around the rear sight.

  8. Found this on the "other glock site"

"I had an opportunity to handle the new 4th generation Glock 22. These are my observations.

New reversible mag release. Larger rectangular face does not appear to be extended.

New recoil spring arrangement. It looks like a dual captured spring setup. It will not retrofit older G22s.

Frame with texturing similar to current RTF frames, but not as sharp. Frame is higher in the area that contacts the web of your hand. The distance between the trigger and the rear of the frame is noticeably shorter. Same profile as current Glock frames but slightly smaller in the rear. There are two (medium and large) backstraps that go over the rear area of the frame. These are held in by the trigger housing pin.

    Standard slide serrations.

No pics allowed. Not official yet."

  9. Are they making any other changes to to frame than the backstraps? would be nice to see a different, more flared mag well and a better shaped trigger guard. I too think it helps that M&P and the XD are giving them some competition, However I read that LA county Sheriff's recently banned the M&P's due to some barrel problems.

  10. I weighed some of my stuf awhile back for my G34

    17rd mag + bump pad 2.87

    17 round mag 2.68

Standard length tungsten rod from glockwerx 1.11

Steel Rod from Wolff was .084

ISMI 13 lb spring with 2 coils clipped off .30

    12 lb wolffe spring was a .16

G34 with mag, bump pad, steel rod, 12 lb spring, Warren tacticals with FO front and grip tape and a houge slip on was 27.67 oz.

From what I've read it has to be 27.75 or under to make weight for a G34.

  11. Ben-

Have you considered or tried the captains of crush and IMTUG grippers? Sounds like something that could enhance your new grip even more.

Ron Avery did an article about them in front sight, probably 4-5 issues ago. I really like them and added them to my workout after I read that article.

  12. Some people call it "roll over prone" where you roll up on your strong arm shoulder and then get your cheek into your strong arm bicep. This helps me stay behind the gun and the sights where I need to be. I prefer to use the support hand to be the contact with the ground, it seems to keep the gun more stable for me. I'll have to try it Dave's way too.

  13. I had that problem last winter too. I ended up throwing away those blue CKRT training mags because they were too heavy and the balance was all wrong. Empty mags didn't work either, so I ended up loading all my practice mags up with 147's with no powder and primer and used the exact same base pads as my match ones. Once I did that things started to come together.

  14. I'll have to look for an old post on glock talk. I tested all of them that I had except for a Vanek which I don't have. Basically I rank the ghost rocket 3.5 with the overtravel stop first becaue of the crisp trigger and the great reset. Next would be the new glockwork 3lb race connector that has the lightest pull but not the best reset. After that it was lone wolf, and the basic older style glockwork 3.5 connectors and then the stock connectors with a polish job.

One of the better connectors with the 3 spring kit and titanium plunger from glockworx and the factory striker has given me my favorite trigger outside of a vanek, which I haven't tried yet. Got the 34 new last August and I have shot about 20 matches, and 10-12 practice sessions with it with only one failue to fire during a match. The round that would not fire was a really old 147 gr winchester LE round from 2002. Got the ammo free and was trying to burn it up in local matches. Overall have been really happy with this setup.

here is the old tests from last year that I did on different connectors

    Different 3.5 lb connectors

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just did some testing on three different connectors and I thought I would share the results.

To start off with, its a new G34 with a .25c trigger job, has around 7-800 rounds through it with the wolf reduced power firing pin spring, plunger spring and trigger spring. It also has the titanium polished plunger from glockwerx.

The stock 3.5lb connector was polished and the trigger broke around 4 lbs.

I took out the stock connector and put in a Glockwerx's 3.5 lb connector and the trigger broke at about 2.75

I took out the Glockwerx's connector and installed a Ghost rocket with the overtravel tab. The package with the Ghost rocket installed came away with 2.8 lb pull.

With the Ghost Rocket though, the reset was about 1/4 of what the reset was with the other 2. Can't wait to try it, double taps are going to be even better. It's a smooth pull then just as you start to feel some resistance it breaks nice.

    FYI

  15. To make your cleaning a lot easier, keep a couple FMJ's in your bag and shoot them last in practice or at a local match and it will blow a lot of the crud out of your barrel before you clean it. I used to shoot a .45 clark custom that would foul lead like crazy. I would shoot 3-5 FMJ's at the end of the match and it would clean about 85% of the bad fouling out of the barrel. What ever is left use a bronze brush with some Sweets 7.62 and you'll be good to go for awhile.

    Sincerely

    Glock shooter.
