  1. I have tried a bunch of combos as well and overall I usually only shoot American Eagle or WWB. The Jaeger with the extended tip and the glockworx three spring kit has been a very reliable combo for me. In the last three years I have only had two rounds not go off in my Gen3 34 shooting about 60 different matches. lawdawg
  2. I put a "dot" connector in my Gen4 17. It smoothed out the hard break just a little bit. It's still a terrible trigger compared to the late Gen 3's. My trigger pull gauge has it just under 6 pounds. FYI Lawdawg
  3. It runs great with 40 grain FMJ CCI mini-mags. I was also able to get warren tacticals on mine with a little bit of file work on the rear sight. Remington golden bullet works in one lot for me and works terrible in another lot. 36 grain CCI mini-mag hollow points work pretty good as well YMMV
  4. Ben- Sorry for the confusion, apparantly the bottle I have is older. I got it from a bullseye shooter some time ago. The new name is Firm Grip Powder and is made by Cramer products out of Gardner Kansas. When checking for the new name, Mueller ball handling adherents and Mighty Grip were two other names that came up that were recommended. Amazon.com has some of them. Here is a link for a site that has Cramer products. http://www.collinssports.com/products/searchResults.asp?sec=48&ssec=70&lc=SB Rob
  5. Have you tried the powder stuff called Adhere II. It's what they put on athlete's skin before they put the pre wrap on. It can get a bit sticky if you use a lot of it over the course of a long hot match, but our league night was really steamy last wednesday and it will definately keep your hands dry for about two stages in bad heat/humidity before you have to put it on again. YMMV. Rob
  6. Ok, I have it on a standard Gen 3 and it does have the finger grooves.
  7. Is it legal in production to use a Houge slip on grip sleeve on a G34? According to 21.4 you can use slip on grip sleeves as long as they are within the area as defined by E5 in the back of the rules book. I am hearing both yes and no, and need a final anwser if anyone can help out I would appreciate it. Lawdawg112
  8. I hope your arm gets better. The season is going pretty good, starting to get some good weather finally. Hope to make a holmen match soon. Going to the glock shoot this month and then Area 3 and the state sectional are about all I can fit in this year. Good to hear from you.

    Rob

  9. Mark, how are you? Hope all is well. PIPS misses your single stack skills.....

  10. 2 Alpha all day

  11. I know Charlie Vanek makes a great product, but I like my recipe better and it's cheaper. I used a V2 glockworx connector, 3.5 lb wolff and a 3.5 ghost along with a 5.5 stock Gen 3 connector. I'm wondering if this G17 has a bad trigger with trigger bar or the housing is messed up. I purchased it new this last winter for my Dad and it only has about 200 rounds of WWB and Fed A.E. through it.
  12. I measured the trigger pull on the Gen4 with the lone wolf, ghost and Glockworx 3.5 lb connectors that I had lying around and they all made it feel way heavier and it measured heavier. Like I said before a stock 5.5 connector from a gen 3 worked out the best and that got me down to about 6.5 lbs. It seems like the new trigger bar doesn't go well with the old connectors. Has anyone tried a trigger w/trigger bar from Glockworx. They want $80 bucks for it, but if it takes up a lot of the pretravel, it might be worth it.
  13. I'm curious about building my own trigger starting with the glockworx trigger with trigger bar that has the "welded tab" behind the trigger that limits pre travel. Has anyone tried these? How much does it limit the normal pre travel amnount?
  14. It doesn't seem like the 3.5 lb connectors work in the Gen4's I have come accross, it makes them way heavier. I'll try a Gen3 trigger/with trigger bar and see if that is the problem.
  15. I have tried searching this, but the engine won't except the term Gen 4. Is anyone having luck with improving trigger performance in the Gen4? Will it work to put a Gen 3 trigger w/trigger bar and Gen 3 trigger housing in a Gen4? My usual Gen3 package is the glockworx 3 spring kit, jaeger striker and ghost rocket 3.5 with overtravel stop. I have tried some different connectors with the Gen4 and the ones I usually use make the trigger worse. A stock normal Gen3 connector seems to be the only one that helps. Thanks Lawdawg
  16. I really like the Jentra glue on ones. I also use a gen3 G34 for production. It helps seat the mag faster and adds a little protection when you drop them. they are expensive for what they are, but nice because you can dremel them easily for a different fit and they have a hole in them so you can still take the mags apart. There is plenty of room in the USPSA box with Jentra pads on the bottom of your mags.
  17. Tried it on a G24. Couldn't tell much difference, however when shooting prone it turned the pistol into a single shot. YMMV
  18. My boss is supportive of USPSA and bullseye so when I started, I used my G22 for work and USPSA. After about 5 months, I couldn't stand the trijicon sights anymore, and wanted to do more to the gun than the dept would let me, so I bought a 34 and set it up how I wanted and started shooting production division. Haven't looked back since, + after about 5,500 rounds, My G22 broke off a frame rail and the locking block pin broke in half. Glock replaced the frame and a lot of the internals for free and did it quickly. Lawdawg
  19. +100 Comp-Tac MTAC for my G27 is awesome! Struggled for years with comfort and fit until I locked onto this little baby. The handwritten thank you note and candy tucked into the holster when it came was icing on the cake. Great company. Rob
  20. That guy was casted to take a big fall if you ask me. High emotion, old shooting dreams that never worked out and a first round challenge with Chris, I bet the producers could not have been happier with how the first episode worked out. Seems a lot better than last year so far. Nice that their not using a Beretta 92 for lots of events like last season.
  21. Got the sights on. Had to file out the rear sight slot more than I thought to get the Warren on. I tried pounding it on with the rubber hammer and brass punch, but it was taking shavings of aluminum off as it was working it's way accross so I had to open it up a bit. I test fired it with the Remington 550 bulk pack that I bought from walmart and was recommended by AA and it shot fine and reset fine. Ordered up a couple extra mags and now just have to wait for the snow banks to get lower than 8 feet to get after it!
  22. My AA kit finally came after 2.5 months. I want to put a warren tactical rear on it with a fiber front like my 34 is setup. Has anyone had any problems with putting after market sights on these and having the extra weight of the aftermarket sights affecting the slide speed? I know these are touchy about ammo and I'm only planning on shooting CCI mini mags and the recommended type ammo through the kit. Thanks. Lawdawg
  23. I just picked up a Gen4 G17 for my dad who just took his concealed carry class. Looks like the gun was manufactured in the middle of Jan 2011. The Spring guide has 02 stamped on the back with a number 1 at the bottom between the 0 and 2. Is this the most current spring out there for the G17 Gen4? Also have to say the trigger on this gun is horrible. 6.5-7 pounds on my gauge, and when it breaks it breaks very hard, you can see the front sight really jump to the right. I tried a 3.5 lb connector and that made it worse. I tired some other 4.5/5.5 lb connectors and one of them made it seem a little smoother and it tested just below six pounds with an old stock connector I had. Looks like they have improved the finish on the guns though. The barrel and slide look a lot nicer than some of my Gen3's did brand new. FYI Lawdawg
  24. Isn't Sherwyn still doing that great plains sectional? I heard that is a really good match. Thought it was at eastern nebraska practical shooters. Rob
