  1. I have the Training Program book. It is excellent for me. I like the mental aspect that Mike brings out in the book.

His approach makes more sense to me.

For example, everyone says call your shot. Ok. But Mike once told me I programmed myself to miss. Subconsciously I developed a bad training scar. I needed to get rid of that bad program and build a new one to replace it. This made more sense to me.

I have read both Steve and Saul's books, which focus on drills, Mike's Program book provides real insight into why you are doing something rather than training to do something.

Just got the books myself. I have to agree with this post. Mike seems to be a technical shooter. the books help break down specifics and allow you to focus on your weaknesses and strengths. excellent so far. if your'e looking for a book thats done the hard work for you ie..formimg a training plan this is it!

  2. Don't know if this helps...i use contacts however they are single vision by Cooper Vision. They work well. I think they have bifocal lenses now as well. It's nice to wear contacts and able to wear my oakly's without buying special lenses for shooting glasses.

  3. New SVI grip with new tubes FLYS out! instead of drop out.

I was told? Someone confirm this.

Just got 2 new limited SVI dottrackers and the mags drop nicely. they don't "fly out" but certainly faster than my STI gear.

  4. (Using my Pocket Pro Timer I bought from Ogiebb).... I just bought a complete Race Master Set up from Double Alpha's website and I love it. This is my first "real" competition rig. I just opened the box and have only set up my holster and my first mag pouch. I was practicing my reloads to see if I liked the position of my first mag pouch. My wife was filming and she thought I was a little crazy, but was pretty amazed at how fast I was. This video was literally probably the 10th time I reloaded at full speed. I don't know if this is fast but I am pretty happy with it.

I can't speak for any other holsters or mag pouches, as I have never owned any, but I can say the Double Alpha rig is awesome!! I did modify the pouches though. I think it might be referred to as the " side ways mount"? Basically I was torquing my wrist with it set up the way it cam out of the box. So I moved the mounting bracket (with to tools and screw supplied in each mag pouch) so that my mags were flat.? Might suck if I ever have to lay in the prone, but oh well I will deal with it.

So if any newbies are out there and don't mind spending the extra few dollars for a good set up. I defiantly recommend getting the Double Alpha Race Master set up!!

Also, when my holster is locked I can turn my belt upside down and shake it violently without my pistol falling out!! I can make a video if you would like.

Thanks Chris for the info, and nice job on the reload!!keep practicing and you'll be up there with Tomasie.

  5. For me it is an economy of movement "problem". Recording your stages can help you figure out just how fast you were moving or how many steps you took while shooting a particular portion. Shave off time by getting the little stuff out of the way and fast and sharp,IE, reloading. Then fine tune your mechanics. Pilates and yoga strengthen the core for leaning shots and lower body and upper body work manage recoil and smooth travel when shooting on the move.

    P.S Ben is a Boss.

Thanks. yep I just started P90X again and will work on all that. It includes Yoga..upper/lower body as well as plyometrics.

  6. Hey Thanks Matt. I appreciate it. Have you worked with clays before. just talked to a local GM..Larry Brown.. he said Clays has pressure problems and the chrono differential could be more than 6% but "man is it soft". I''l give it a try> Thank you.

  7. Hello All! I'm getting 2 SVI SS .40 cal dot trackers long dust cover in a week...can't wait...and wondering if anyone out there has a good load for that gun. I talked to SVI and they recommended Hogden Clays 4.8gr with OAL 1.2100- 1.2300. Also Brandon gave me Chris Tilleys load of 4.5gr. Clays 200gr JHP OAL of 1.230- 1.2400. He said they have seen case seperation ecause of high pressure but was oft and quick sight recovery. Anyway if you have a similar gun and would like to share your pet load that would be great. Don't know if it matters but I'm 5'11" and 175lbs. and in good shape. perhaps someone similar in size could explain more accurately the "feel" of the gun. Thanks!!

  8. Thanks guys for the great thread. I'm still learning this game. I'm a B class in open and always looking for ways to improve. If I can shoot as fast as anyone else then it seems to me to be about movement. Thats my "weakness". any help/tips there would be great! drills etc.

  9. Anyone have any good info on stage tactics or anything on movement drills that will help improve my time. I'm a B class shooter in open and switching to limited. I notice I can shoot just as accurately and quickly as the next guy and even run the same "route" as a higher classed shooter but slower overall time. whats the secret? Thanks to all who reply.
