  1. I'll be in Austin, TX August 16-19 for meetings for work. Staying and meeting on the north side of the city in Jollyville (?) but I am renting a car.

I don't have a ton of free time, but I want to take advantage of being in a new place as much as I can. Keep in mind I'm traveling alone, so while I would love to visit that "great little restaurant in the sketchier part of town, but with food worth the trip", I probably don't need to venture there on this trip.

So, whatcha got? I'm a big foodie, so I definitely want tips on where to eat. Plus if there are some sites/areas that I just HAVE to visit, I wanna know.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Over the past 16 months of shooting USPSA with my hubby, I've had numerous guys come up to me and say, "I wish my wife would come out here and shoot with me!". I've given lots of thought to what you might do to encourage her to join you on the range.

This article perhaps sums it up better than any other one I've seen. Read it, study it, and next time you ask your gal to go shooting, maybe you'll get a "YES"! ;)

And while you're at it, have her subscribe to The WON's news letter... It's a great informational tool geared towards women in the sport and it's free!

**Mods, please move this to another thread if this isn't the right location. Thanks!

  3. Working on my list - this is hard! But at the top would HAVE to be Led Zepplin II...

    1) Led Zepplin II

    2) Allman Brothers "Eat a Peach"

    3) The Police "Synchronicity"

    4) Alan Jackson "Greatest Hits v. II"

    5)

Gonna have to think on the last one! What a good thread... thanks BE!

For someone from GA, those pics strike close to home. That looks alot like pics of Lake Lanier (and many others around our state) over the past couple of years. Luckily, we are on the tail end of our drought and some places (including where I live) are officially OUT of the drought! I'm traveling to Austin in a couple of weeks and will see if I can't bring a little rain with me. :)

  5. Today was great. A buddy swung by the house and picked me up. We shot the match at Rio Salado twice this morning (2 different divisions). I had a great cup of coffee. My 20 month old son is in a great mood. My wife is in a good mood. I had a gun problem (no biggie) on one stage today and TGO took it apart, went and got his gun to compare, and showed me the problem in 2 seconds and I actually had the fix for it in my range bag. I enjoy being around shooters. It's a great community.

Sounds as close to the perfect day as most of us will ever get! I had the opportunity to attend a Babes with Bullets class in Phoenix at Rio Salado. Kippi Leatham was one of the instructors and she's so down-to-earth. On our last day at camp, TGO was at the range hauling props around. It's very impressive to see folks who are famous (at least in our sport) sweating it out with the rest of us! Hope the rest of your day is just as good as the 1st part was!

  6. Happy Birthday, Stoney! Our "Doodlebug" (part Pekingese/ part Poodle) turned 2 last month. She's only been with us a little over a year and already we don't know what we'd do without her. He sounds like a wonderful dog and a great companion!
