  1. Was having major FTE issue.... Turned out, after some advice during a match, to check and clean the extractor claw. DUH!!! That was the culprit for me. Gunk City! Never thought to clean it.... Since then no more FTE. I do have problem with FTF when I load up with 124gr Zero's. But never have problems when using 124gr BDX
  2. In reality... No. I have a ss CZ guide rod in my shadow and I felt no different. Psychologically... If it will help you shoot better then change it out.

    CZ Thumb Safety

I inserted a safety detent spring on both sides.
  4. Worth every penny but get yourself a copy of Sual's Master Class III - Mastering the Mental Game. Talks about everything you just went through during your match and how to over come it. So much info, over 2 hrs worth. Listen to it over and over again. It's working for me. Last two matches I place 2nd in one and other time place 3rd out of 25 production shooters. I shot GREAT!!!! I won that match even before it started. Mikes and penalties... Did I get any??? I don't remember. I went to the match expecting to win. The top shooter went to the match hoping I won't beat him.. Listen/ watch that DVD and you know why I just wrote what I wrote.
  5. FWIW... When you're ready, strap on a hat cam, I use a GoPro, and record youreslf in 1st person. Then after each match review it. You'll be amazed at the stuff you did but didn't know it at the time. Even better have someone film you at the same time so you can see yourself whole.
  6. Found one difference... The height profile of the Kadet 2 kit is shorter than the Kadet kit. With the Kadet fitted onto the Shadow frame, the pistol will not fit into the Shadow specific Bladetech holster, is the case with my buddy's Shadow/ Kadet kit. My Shadow/ Kadet 2 combo fits perfectly into my Bladetech Shadow holster. NICE... but I'm now using a Ghost holster. Cheers.
  7. I thought about it being dirty and did take apart my Redding measurer but it was clean as a whistle and I don't lube any parts of my Redding. I too use my RCBS scale just to confirm. It may well be TG doesn't work well with my Redding. I was just wondering what other reloaders are experiencing with TG variance.
  8. I've been reloading for some time and still stuck on a single stage from my precision rifle days. The powder charger I'm using is a Redding I bought 20 years ago and still work great. I just started to use TG becuase of the hype and out of habit I weigth each charge with a digital scale. I am unhappy to report that there is too much variance from my 3.6gr I wanted. +/- 0.1gr is exceptable to me but I was getting alot of 2.8gr, 3.2gr all the way up to 4.0gr and afew 4.2gr. I have used IMR in the past for rifle and been using W231 for 9mm, I got a 1/2 lb of W320 from a friend and ALL meters very accurately out of my Redding with just a +/- 0.1gr variance. I'm wonder is it because TG is in the form of a flake and my Redding's design does not like flakey powder? Thanks for you input.
  9. Are the pins a one way pin meaning Do I drive the pins right (ejector port) to left or left to right? Thanks again
  10. Hello All, I'm trying to install a Comp Hammer on my Shadow. I've dissasembled the Shadow but I'm stuck on trying to remove the two pins holding the Disconnector and Hammer Spring Strut from the original hammer on the Shadow. I've tried tapping the pin out from either side and the pins are not moving at all, the only thing happening is my thin punch is bending. Is there a trick to it or do I need to drill out the pins? Thanks for your help.
  11. Thanks.... Just curious, would shortening the OAL by 0.030" be a lot or would that be on the safe side?
  12. Need advice.... I will be shooting the ISPC Ontario Provincials on July 3rd, next Saturday. I was planning on using my M&P9 with my handloads, 250 rds: Frontier 147gr CMJ FN, 3.9gr TG, OAL 1.130" I just bought a CZ Shadow and I shoot way better with it over the M&P9. I want to use the Shadow for this match instead. Because I reload with a single press I was hoping to reseat my handloads down to a OAL of 1.060" instead of making up a whole new batch. Can I do this without cause unsafe pressure? Unfortunately I don't have the time to visit the range either to test for signs of excess pressure. Thanks for the help.
  13. Yup, turns out that the chrony was too close. This time I put it out to 12ft and here are my results: 7rds: - 3.4gr @ 889fps average = 131 PF - 3.7gr @ 951fps average = 140 PF - 3.9gr @ 971fps average = 143 PF Thanks for all your help.
  14. Thanks everyone for your help. Made up afew more test load and heading to the range tomorrow. This time not so close to the chrony.
  15. Forgot to mention that the loads listed above do cycle the slide with no FTF or FTE or stove pipe. The brass is falling about 2 - 3 feet at my 4 - 5 o-clock. Could very well be that the chrony at 5 - 6ft is too close and the muzzle blast is causing the wrong readings.
  16. I've done alot research on the 9mm with 147 gr and Titegroup but my numbers are nowhere near what I've read. My equipment: - Located in Ontario, Canada (elevation a factor, if any?) - Shooting Chrony (placed about 5 ft. from the muzzle of my M&P9) - M&P9 - Mixed brass - Federal 100 primers - Titegroup (digital scale to confirm powder charge) - Frontier 9mm 147gr. CMJ FN - OAL is 1.130" (+/- 0.010")with a digital caliper - No crimp, enought just to eliminated the belled mouth. Results (5 shot average): - 3.2gr @ 423 fps average - 3.3gr @ 440 fps average - 3.4gr @ 468 fps average - 3.5gr @ 481 fps average - 3.6gr @ 620 fps average I want to a PF of 140 (up coming L3 match) which means I have to push 950 fps and no less the 900 fps MAX. What do you suggest to help bump up the velocity... more powder (is it safe at current OAL) and/or shorten the OAL to 1.100" - 1.120". Thanks for the help, have 2 weekends left to test my next batch of reloads.
  17. Hello all, First time to post but not my first time reloading. So I'm about to start reloading 9mm with Frontier 147gr, W231 and Federal Primers. I'm all done shouting my 1000 rounds of Speer Lawman 9mm 124gr and about 200 rds of CCI Blazers 115gr. Right from the go my grouping with the Lawman were aweful even when I benched my M&P9 whether at 10 meters or 25 meters. It was very discouraging seeing those groups but as they say it's not the gun but the shooter. I then tried out the CCI Blazers and the groups improved alot. Long story short I pulled the bullets from both rounds to do some measurements and with the Speer Lawman I found at least 15 BLACK odd shape flakes mixed in the gray gun powder. As for the CCI's there none of these black flakes I am mentioning. In all my times I've reloaded for rifles I've never come across this. Could this lot of 1000rds of 9mm ammo had a bad batch of gun powder that was cross contaminated and that was causing my bad groups (from shotgun pattern to not even hitting a 8x11 piece of paper at 25 meter) or are there pistol powders that have BLACK colored flakes mixed in?? Thanks for the feed back
