  1. I just purchased a Model 610 and have the following to report. I load my .40 cal long 1.24 which is very simular to my 10 mm factory loads and have not seen any change in accuracy between the two loads. The .40's definitely make for an easier follow-up shot.

I use the .40 for Steel and 10mm for carry, oh yet 2.5" barrel.

  2. Buy with confidence! I have 2 full size S&W 1911's and a scandium commander that are fantastic shooters and have been 100% reliable. For the guy getting the brass back in the head, that is an ejector tuning issue.

  3. I have an SVI IMM Open gun with 2 port comp and 4 blow holes. I run the OAL at 1.235 - 1.240 to prevent dragging on the mags. I use 10.4g 3N38, WSP, 121 IFP Montana Golds and a crip at .378 and get 171 PF consistently at matches around the country.

    Have fun!

  4. It has been said already, it depends on how serious ($) you want to get or are in it today! I have a Ruger MkIII, S&W Model 41 and a Marvel 1911 top end. The Marvel and M41 are serious shooters and very good for bullseye. The Ruger is fun and really good for USPSA, Steel Plate, bowling pin practice or plinking. I have a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite on the Ruger, also good fun.

I hope this helps you in your quest.

  5. Well, as one of the Chrono guys at the Ohio Sectional I can tell you we were sad for the 3 people who went sub-minor at the match. From my prior experiences as "a chrono guy", the people shooting Remington UMC ammo alway have problems. Add a short barrel gun and several other brands can be added to the list.

My 2 cents is along the lines of Aztecdriver's, a person should be prepared for the level of match they plan to shoot. I went minor my first Level II because I didn't have a chrono (I was shooting limited with a Glock 35).

Ranger - The rules are there to make sure everyone, everywhere has the same playing field. The new folks that like the Level I matches and plan to shoot a Level II or III match should get their gun/ammo combo checked before the match, they owe it to themselves.
