    extraction problem

    I've already posted on Henning's forum about this because the gun is Tan v12. The problem is the extractor claw is coming off the case during ejection leaving the spent case in the chamber. The next round feeds and it jams.I have to drop the mag, which allows the slide to close and rack, then the spent case ejects. It was doing this with a tuned 38sc extractor, so I changed to the 9mm extractor and a stronger spring. It does'nt happen as much but still does it. I've put a live round under the extractor and it seems to have perfect tension. Anyone have any idea as to the cause? It's 38sc and I case guage the rounds prior. Thanks

    Tanfoglio dont have 38 SC extractor only 38 Super Auto,you must to use 9mm extractor if you want to shoot 38SC also you must to remove some material from small pin on extractor left side,then extractor catch the case harder and you solve your problem. 10 minutes job

    STI problem with ejections

    I bee today on range 6 hour , I shoot 400 bullets.

    I shoot 100 bullet with SVI magazine(split be 0.13,0.14-0.15) my gun work like mad machine!!!

    When I put STI magazine in gun I have malufunction on first bullet (I have 10 STI magazines ).

    What I see : SVI magazine touch ejector or maybe he be very clouse,STI magazine have a aproximatly 2mm to ejector(all STI magazines)

    Is that posibile to I have 10 new magazines who dont work?

    Any suggestions?

    I try again today with new ejector , he work better but again I have a problem.

    A contact point about 1/3 of the way down the face of the ejector usually works well for scoped guns, whereas about 2/3 of the way down works well for non-scoped guns. However every gun is different and these are just starting points.

    What he mean 1/3 something like this?

    Ammo OAL is 31.40mm(1.2400) ejector is 7.51mm(0.2955)

    I prepared new ejector like I read in Brazos article about ejector!

    My problem now is that when I try to eject a live round it won't eject the way I like.

    The nose of the bullet hits the front side of the ejection hole.

    Anybody have a sugestion about ejector lenght for 38 SC?

    Fix one problem at a time. So does it now eject empty cases consistantly?

    If yes, then what is the OAL (over all length) of your loaded round? ...check length of ammo first then think about the length of the ejector.

    Hi all,

    I have STI 5.5 Open gun with Dawson scope mount,Light recoil master,Aftec extractor for 38 super competition.

    I have problem with ejection,my brass go to high touch the scope mount and after that I have malufunction,anybody know how to prepare my ejector ( I have 2 brend new,1 is STI and second is EGW).I dont have gunsmith in my country who know to do that. I need support becouse I have now problem to prepare for Europian Championship!

    Substitute for N350

    For my GRAND MASTER

    7.8 grs VV N350

    CCI 500

    124 grs FMJ

    31.60 mm

    For my NITRO STI with 2 hole on barell

    7.9 grs VV N350

    CCI 500

    124 grs FMJ

    What is a good substitute for N350.... it's getting pretty expensive and impossible for me to find locally. I am currently running a 5" Bedell custom 38SC with no holes in the bbl. 124gr MG JHP, 8.2gr of N350 @1.245" Remington small rifle primer and this yields me 172pf. A few guys in the club run True Blue but they all have holes in their bbl's. We get a good deal on it here locally and it's readily available. I want to switch to something a little cheaper and more available without changing the way the gun shoots, is this possible? I searched and there is a wealth of powder info here, a little too much for an Open Noob to make sense of as far as which powders are similar, speed, pressure, dot tracking,etc.
