  1. Looks like I'm on a slow but steady climb. So long 63%
  2. I carry a S&W 642 almost everyday. Like what was previously said get the right ammunition. However above all else...PRACTICE WITH IT!
  3. Just wanted to wish all my fellow SSEC members a Happy Thanksgiving
  4. I think in order for our organization to remain clean, pure, and yet forever snobbish we must ask ourselves...what would J.M.B. do? Let us not forget who we are and what this club stands for. Death by machine gun????? Alright, perhaps death by machine gun might be a bit much Perhaps we could make this a teachable moment. I would suggest club suspension until said offender has participated in at least one match using a 1911 of approved SSEC configuration. This would cover the initial offense. As far as the continued lack of contriteness said offender should also have to resubmit his application to the SSEC using current pictures of the 1911 used at the match. I am also open to Steel1212's idea of chicken wings

  7. USPSA at Silver Creek in Indiana this past Sunday. Had a decent match. Haven't seen the scores yet so I'll be curious to see where I finished. Did a little better than last week at keeping the gun up. I'm keeping it up when I'm ejecting the mag but then dropping it as I start the actual reload and then arm extension. My movement felt good today. I had some issue of not using my sights. It was mostly a point and shoot day and although I didn't have any mike's I had way to many charlie's. Had an ok classifier that I think helped my average a bit by taking a lower score off. I think when all my recent classifiers are added I may be in the higher B range instead of the lower. Every little bit helps I'm thinking I may get to A class come Spring or so. Also had some gun issues today. Gun not going into battery. It's been happening about once per match but it happened 3 times during this match. I think after 2 years of just shooting straight lead I believe I have developed a build up issue I need to look into. My hand is all jacked up from tap/racks under Adrenalin during the stage Stages were great and the weather was just about perfect for shooting Got to hang out with some good friends to, it was a good day
  8. Sunday's USPSA Match. I shot 4 of 5 stages fairly well but the barrel stage with all the low targets ate my lunch :-) I'm bringing the gun down again during reloads. I thought I had finally conquered that after the Miami Match :-( I also failed to seat a mag properly and that cost me some time too. Managed a classifier score that should help my average finally. Walking the plank and shooting on the last stage was a lot of fun.
  9. Shot the BGSL 3 Gun Match last weekend. I'm terrible at this sport but I keep playing. I have to spend more time with my rifle. I also need to get my 2011 up and running. I'm a regular 1911 shooter and the Glock I have been using for this match just isn't doing it for me. All in all I still had a great time. I'm just tired of wasting ammo at this match.
  10. This is the milkshake run match at MRPC in OH last Sunday. 2 penalties(same stage) on 5 stages for the day. 1st place overall SingleStack Division. Hey look who's learning to keep the gun up. The Peanutbutter milkshake from the UDF was awesome
  11. Shot a 3 inch S&W 629 at our local IDPA Match yesterday. I only break this thing out once or twice a year. It's always a barrel of monkeys when I do. Wasn't so much worried about my score I just enjoyed shooting the stages with it I was using 240 grn LSWC and charged to 44Special. Our club rules won't let us shoot the plates with 44Mag and besides after about 50 rounds of the magnums my hand starts to go numb Thanks to Steel1212 for putting this vid together and adding the Dirty Harry quotes
  12. Our local USPSA Match for Oct. Started off well on stage 1. I did alright on stage 2 and was happy I didn't forget any of the targets :-) Stage 3 would have looked good but I misstepped while reaching around the wall and it cost me some time. Stage 4 was our classifier. While it was a decent stage for me it wasn't good eno...ugh to help my average. I couldn't wait to shoot stage 5. Things started out well but I had a bad plan on the second target array and then a malfunction on top of it. Stage 6 I intended on burning down. Again my gun malfunctioned and I lost my shot count and placement. I shot 6 rounds without a required reload and 2 mikes because I didn't have the required number of rounds on a target. Total of penalties and the stage cost me about 100 points. My two big things I took from this match. The usual(keep my gun up!) and maybe I should try cleaning the 1911 once in a while
  13. Shot the TN. Sectional last weekend. Good match as always, they have a great crew! I finished 1st B class Single Stack and 4th overall Single Stack. It was a very tough match especially for us 8+1 guys. The steel plates at distance ate my lunch! I had some good stages and some not so good. I'm keeping the gun up more these days but still not enough. I'm shooting our local USPSA Match this Sunday and I'm planning on working on that specifically. Gun up, gun up, gun up!
  14. Yeah one more SingleStack and we would have had a recogonized division
  15. Keeping with the spirit of posting the bad with the good here is today's USPSA Match at Silver Ck in Indiana. Today's match was a brilliant display of lack of concentration. What I could do wrong I basically did do wrong. My brain was not engaged today. I've done pretty well the last few matches I have shot but today the wheels just seemed to come off. I guess I should be glad I've got it out of my system though. I've got an IDPA Classifier coming up next weekend and the Tenn. USPSA Sectional the weekend after that. Back to the Lab again yo!
  16. Sept USPSA BGSL Wilmore, Ky. 5 stages of pistol along with a shotgun side match. Shot a clean match with no mikes and no penalties. I feel like I have been really putting things together lately. Time to speed things up a little though. I placed 3rd in SS and 14th overall for the match shooting just over 78% of the match leader. Shotgun is always fun. Definetly time to start stepping on the gas there too. 6th place overall. 1 Estill, Corey A57351 M Single Stack Major N N N N 570.4976 100.00% 2 McGowan, Todd A42582 B Open Major N N N N 566.0454 99.22% 3 Bradley, Chuck TY25460 GM Limited Major N N N N 555.4756 97.37% 4 Pignato, Anthony TY55612 A Limited Major N N N N 542.5663 95.10% 5 Hopkins, Shaun A56938 A Production Minor N N N N 542.0936 95.02% 6 Foley, Mike TY47474 A Single Stack Major N N N N 514.1961 90.13% 7 Lyons, Alex A29454 B Open Major N N N N 513.9301 90.08% 8 Bradley, Ryan TY53759 M Open Major N N N N Junior 506.2651 88.74% 9 West, Barry FY37438 M Limited Major N N N N 494.1793 86.62% 10 Cottrell, John L2588 A Limited Major N N N N 490.6357 86.00% 11 Jasper, Harold A27892 B Production Minor N N N N 476.5139 83.53% 12 Brown, Greg TY57893 B Limited Major N N N N 459.9255 80.62% 13 Carroll, Kevin TY33759 M Limited Major N N N N 450.9072 79.04% 14 TRYON, TOM A60566 B Single Stack Major N N N N 446.5179 78.27% 15 Umansky, Steve TY56873 B Limited Major N N N N 428.2711 75.07% and 32 others...
  17. 5th Sunday BGSL 3Gun August 2010 Can't really complain here. I was pleased with my shotgun skills. I need to start speeding them up a little. I borrowed a pistol (Glock) for this match since major/minor didn't matter and I was looking for capacity to be competetive. Considering this wasn't my 1911 I was still fairly pleased. I now have a fine rifle but I haven't spent much time with it on the range and there is nobody to blame but myself. Right now it's my worst event. This must be rectified! Considering this was my 2nd multi gun match ever and my first this year I'm ok with my performance. I think I will be able to improve on several things substantially before the next match. 1 Ray, Brian TI 2 Cottrell, J.T. TI 12 Berger, Andrew TI 13 Rodman, Kiel TI 14 Carmical, Adam TI 15 Moore, Barry TI 16 Berger, Rolando TI 17 Sword, Jared TI 18 Bowman, Todd I finished 11th in the overall standings
  18. Hey not bad for a pistol guy
  19. Thanks for all the help guys! I don't have the revolver here but my friend is suppose to be sending more pics. I hope to post them soon
  20. Yeah, pretty sure that's it. Thanks
  21. I got an email from a friend this evening that included this picture. He thought since I was an avid shooter I might be able to identify this. It's been in his family for years. He does not want to sell it just wants to know what it is. Just guessing on my part I think it might be from a Belgian maker but this really isn't my area of expertise. Can anyone out there help? He is sending me more pics later if it helps. Thanks
