  1. I've been on mornings for the last few years.

Mostly I'm doing excercises only with my body weight- pushups, pull ups, planks, some bowflex use for pec deck, flys, and some free-weights off the big ball but those are mostly hammer curls . . .I went to these type workouts due to being hurt . .

Give yourself some time to wake up and warm up and enjoy!

Tell me, when do all the cool stickers, patches and other snob accessories arrive?

    Ed, I'll get you that 5 spot at swgc. . . . .

Application is ok but attitude needs adjustment. "if I am worthy"?? should be "because I'm worthy"......roflol.gif

  3. Finishing up my Trojan build right now.

Nice bbl and slide fit and general good finish. Beavertail to rear frame tang could be better, and the ejector was loose.

The slide is much nicer than that on the Spartan . . . The cuts and style of the slide were a main point of concern to me.

The worst thing about the Trojan which could be easily corrected is the front strap treatment. I could do without the Trojan logo on the slide too. Mine has no horsehead.

What we really need from STI is a Single Stack shortblock kit.

I've called them and they do not have one, but that would be the ticket for a good SS build platform. As you all are aware short blocks are available for LTD platforms, why not a SS platform?

  5. Looks like you are good to go . . . If you shoot SS or Production you dont want too much overalp on the outer belt, else you will be overlapping mag pouches if you attach at the rear to keep the smooth look front. I shoot SS mostly and have about a 30 waist . . .the 32 fits perfect with good overlap. 34 works ok too.

  6. I was able to purchase a large quantity of 310 a few years ago on the way cheap.

I've used it for a long time, always successfully in .45 and .40 major.

This should get you close . . .

4.5 grains with 200gr Montana Gold JFP at 1.215 OAL for .45acp w fed LP- non ramped barrel.

4.5 grains with 180gr Montana Gold JHP at 1.210 OAL for .40 w WSR

Same from 1911 5 inch barrels

Size of this powder is small, and it meters well. I'm using a Dillon 650.

A super clean burn contributes to a pistol that stays clean.

I did not have good success with the black bullet and this powder. This powder burns hot, and I suppose combined with the moly coat on the bullet caused smoking and horrendous barrel residue . . . .

    Hope this helps

  7. Thanx. . . I'm away from my competition guns at the moment . . . .

Will get some close ups out soon . . .Trojan should be ready for competition next week with new mods.

The Kimber is old and used hard, but I think, a nice example of a customized 2 tone. . .

  9. Revo,

Brownells has an oversized bushing kit tap and bushing set available. Get it. Get the bushing driver too, as it applies to your needs . .

Can't recall if they offer it in a slim bushing kit though . . . Don't forget the proper sized bushing grip screws... . .

Something is bound to happen again in the future with a bushing, so the kit is a good investment anyway, and extra bushings are good to have.

Don't forget to protect the frame around the bushing with tape of some kind before the bushing removal action . . .

Soak the bushings with Kroil for a while.

Use a vise grip and to turn them out- they will be ruined. Use the Brownells kit that you should have on hand, if needed,to install new oversized bushings if the threads into the frame are damaged.

After you get the original ones out, the threads may very well be stripped or damaged. The Brownells bushing driver is very good, but the one I have won't remove a thin grip bushing- but it is great for installing or removing a regular one as it supports the bushing structure and prevents unwanted slippage.

Clean, degrease as applicable and blue locktite the new bushings in . .

    hope this helps

  10. The easiest way to remove staked bushings is to use a pair of pliers that have a curved, serrated jaw. Factory installed bushings are not normally Loctited. Brownell's collared screwdriver bit works well for installation, but not for removal of staked bushings.

and it wont work with thin bushings. . . .

  11. Yep, read the posts old and new on issues with .40 Trojans on feeding, OAL, mags and the like. A couple of questions,

Did STI do a redesign on ramping area/s?

Were non-horse head marked slides an indicator of a newer, redesigned feed ramp gun?

Seems the fixes are running Wilson 47D .45 mags with OAL 1.200 or longer for reliable feeding. . .just like the ol' 1911 in .45. . . or at least to get toward that OAL . . .

I'm about ready to jump on the .40 SS bandwagon and use my .40 LTD load at approx 1.210 w MG 180 JHP, which never fails in my bushing BBl older Eagle or my newer bull bbl Edge . . .

I'm used to no malfunctions with my old, beater Kimber 1911.

My philosophy is never having to think that the gun may malfunction, and I don't want to start.

Not that I can't fix things, just that I want to know what I may be getting into so that I know what I might have to fix.

Your comments or PM's are appreciated. . .

  12. I have used Wolf LP,SP,SR in my 650 with no loading issues.

I like the way that are face up out of the box. Just in the last

few matches my 45 SS has had three FTF- looks like the primer

is very hard on these rounds, good contact with the FP?

No problems here with LP in SS gun with 17 m/s and c/w ultra lite combo trigger kit. . . .

    feels good/

ill order more since they are available easily

    +1 on the pkging

  13. The guns depicted look good to me. . .

I like to have freedom to work within the rules to customize a gun that feels like I want it to and be a personalized gun at the same time.

If either of the guns were shooting against mine, I wouldn't complain of an unfair advantage. . . .

The SS rules seem pretty well crafted at this time, and allow for the venerable 1911 to be "customized" - just like a 1911 should be

Anyway, I like to see what imagination does with a working 1911, and I'd hate to see the SS rules get botched up with a bunch of additional restrictions.

Imagination and customization ideas are part of what makes this so fun.
