  1. I am also running some Sierra 70 g BTHP out of a 26" Shilen with a break. 1/10 twist. Varget @ 45.5 shoots in the threes. The 1/13.5 ran the same load accuracy was in the 4's. CCI 200 primers Lapua brass. Don't skimp on the brass! I ran Winchester for awhile and had some case separation towards the rear of the case. Lapua is "fatter" towards the base and my cases show not signs that the Winchester did. Either way you go there fast had have a lot of punch out to 500yds. They wack the crap out of my steel plate at that range. If you can find the bulk 58g zombie bullets they are a good buy for $70. I bought 1500 figured the barrel would toast bout 750. So I have enough for 2 barrels.
  2. I built one on a 20" krieger 1 in 13.5 twist. Shot 70g sierras in .320 with varget. And running Hornady 58g with varget as well. CCI 200 primers. It's fast haven't had it cronoed but she smokes. Killed a coyote at 200 last fall he never took a step. I like the varget, temp restisant powder.
  3. is ready for spring

  4. I know that the lens are plastic not glass but mine is not fuzzy at all. I would compair mine with my c-more, c-more is older though. I have however cleaned the cmore with creamy peanutbutter and it helped take out the scraches, it was used. Yes i know but its a hell of a polishing compound.
  5. How do i get a hold of Josh Halfman. He built my open. Is he still working on them?
  6. I really have not shot it that much. I will be shooting it in a match this weekend we will see. So far i like it!
  7. The flame were not my idea. I bought the gun just last week . It was built in 2001 the smith did a outstanding job on it. I have only 60 rounds through the gun personally. From what i have shot it, there is very limited muzzle jump compaired to my other open. I have an open with the c-more and comp and dont like it near a well as this one. I normally shoot SS so it was a big change with the c-more. This set up seems to be the SH**. The glass is a little smaller but so far i have had less problem finding the dot than the c-more. one thing i forgot is the jpoint is the newer mod. it has an auto lighting for the dot. when i started messing with it in the basement with limited light the dot did not look very bright. I changed the batt. this still did not help, this is when i got online and read about the auto bright adjustment. i shot it sat in full sun and loved it. The dot to me is brighter and clearer than my c-more. FYI the dot is a 4MOA.
  8. I guess this is a good place to ask this ???? the gun i bought was built by Josh Halfman. Anyone know of him or if he is still in bussiness. I had thought about getting a limited slide made for this one with the flames and all. I hope my pic posts we will see I got alot of non computer skills
  9. Light in the fridge is funny! I have three kids that have asked that ??? 100 time. Do i mess with them, Why YES i do. Until they open it enough it never shuts off. Now i am thinking how many times i have cracked the cover just to see if its on. HA HA. I really like the little sight. Dare i say i like it more than the c- more i have on my other. I have and will repalce it yearly then, i just did'nt know. I did not get the instruction manual with it so did'nt know. Thanks for the info i will stop cracking the cover on it, Maybe HA HA.
  10. I am pretty new with this open thing. I just bought an sti with a Jpoint milled in, looks awsome. I am wondering if the thing ever shuts off. I have a cap for it but dont know. I did try to get it into total darkness in the basement and it stayed on, very dim but was on. Do you guys pull the battries to shut it off? how often do you change the batts.
  11. I have also shot Kimber alot. Shot a custom II for one year and shot a old style CDP, non alloy lower. they both shot great with the lead. A buddy of mine is still shooting the custom II. I went to a Springer trophy match, have alittle touble with it getting dirty and not feeding. The kimbers never gave a lick of trouble. good luck chris
  12. I have some vv 350 coming and some MG 121's on the way to. By looking at the burn chart Tg is pretty hot. I didnt know if anyone had tried it. Thanks for the info.
  13. Thats what i am afraid of. It is pretty hot on the powder chart. Alot more so than the 3n37 and the 350. I just have a bunch of TG for my 40 cal. I have seen alot of guys going to solo 1000 i may see if i can get it. I did'nt figure i would like the answers i would get. thanks for the info
  14. Ok before i get hollered at i have searched and cant find the info i want. I am having trouble finding the VV powders. I am loading the super comp for the first time. I have a handfull of the 124 MG HP's. I plan to shoot 121 MG's. I looked in my Sierra book it lists the Tight group as accurate load at 5.7 @ 1250fps/125g bullet I know that is not pf, but none of the other loads are either, Legal stuff i guess. It lists 5.0 to max at 6.0 @ 1300. plan to use small rifle primers have starline brass. Anyone tried it?? Is it to hot? Thanks for the HELP! Chris
  15. Thanks doug good enough. I have no idea on firings. It all looks good and clean inside and out.
  16. Got a ???? dont know where to put it. So i put it here. What is 38 super+p nickle brass going for these days. I have 1000+ pcs and dont know what its worth. I got it in a gun trade and the open gun it came with will shoot super comp, done tried it. Thinking of selling it to fund the new super comp brass. I have a buyer for it we just dont have a clue, I am really green in the 38 super relm. Any help would be great. Chris
  17. I got a M&P 9 from GIO last week and thought i would try a load. Checked out this spot in here and thought i would give the 147 lead load with the clays charge. Got a lot of clays due to the .45 acp addiction. Have 2 550's set up one for the 45 and the other for the 40. Anyway pulled out the 40 S&W dies and addjusted the the 9mm dies. Heres the good part!!! Just for kicks i droped a 10 charges of the clays and checked the grain weight. I got the load i wanted, 2.7g was it!! Took it out and shot 20 through the M&P and it shot great, cycled all rounds and shot a pretty good group. I think i will keep it. I need to chrono them but i dont think i will change a thing. As was posted very light recoil. Going to have trouble keeping those loaded i am afraid. My load for the 40 was in tightgroup 4.7g(i think) guess with the size difference of the type of powder it worked. Who would have thunk it. just though i would share.
  18. Well I took everones addvice and bought a M&P in 9mm from GIO. I got is saturday and have cleaned it and greased and have not had a chance to shoot it. it looks like a well built iron. I aint no 1911 but thats another cat in itself. anyway thanks for the input and thanks to GIO. A little gear and some mags and i will be set. for the classification next year. Hunting season is comming and i love my HOYT to much.
  19. I do know he did not have any trouble out of it. He really liked it. I will shoot it. You never know i may have got one of the good ones. I do know they were offered to the leo's only at that time and not for public sale. the mags are marked "law enforcement only" due to the mag cap ban. i will let you know. I thought if anything a new barrel would not be a bad idea. Like i said in the post i have shot it once, put 15 in the mag and rapid fire at a bucket or something and it went bang everytime. Dont know if i hit anything. I have seen them on line they are cheap and smith still sells them. My kids are starting to get interested into dads gun hobby and i figured a soft nine would be good to get them started after the 22 conversion on the 1911. My girl is 10 so she is not to far away. thanks for the help i will let you know how it shoots
  20. OK I will try to make this short but we will see. I am wanting to get my classification in production. I have been thinking of getting a M&P in the Pro 9mm. But i have a Sigma in 40 havent shot it any just a mag thats about it. My cousin was a LOE he passed on a couple years ago so i bought his duty gun ,cause it was his. It has 5 mags so thats not an issue. But i need mag pouches & holster. I also need a guide rod he put in the laser and i dont want to blow it up. Springs, would not mind changing them out either. I am not worried about the trigger. Its my closet gun for my wife and i so the less tinkering i do the better. I shoot ss and L10 and some limited. All steel guns, this is my first try at the poly gun so any advice would be great! My limited is a 40 so i load it. They are 10mm O.a.l. and wont fit in the mags. As little as i am going to shoot it factory will do and sugg. on ammo? Thanks for the help.
  21. For the last four years i have shot SWC only. 200g with never had a feed problem when i started i was advised to make the C.O.L @ 1.250 to 1.255. Never have had a problem in 40,000 rounds and in 5 different guns. 3 of them kimbers. but when you change bullets makers the nose and "shoulder" of the bullers my be different. I to look at the amount of lead sticking out of the case if it's to long you will hit the rifling and will not go into battery. mines about 1/16. My 2
  22. I did that in a match!!!!! Lost count of rounds and could not top off ,slide locked back and i slamed that mag home a ripped off the stop. To say the least it took 3 fellas to get that sucker out of the gun. Lessons i learn are always the hard ones. Sent it to wilson and got a new one in 5 days. Thanks wilson. chris ty 56076
