Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I am also running some Sierra 70 g BTHP out of a 26" Shilen with a break. 1/10 twist. Varget @ 45.5 shoots in the threes. The 1/13.5 ran the same load accuracy was in the 4's. CCI 200 primers Lapua brass. Don't skimp on the brass! I ran Winchester for awhile and had some case separation towards the rear of the case. Lapua is "fatter" towards the base and my cases show not signs that the Winchester did. Either way you go there fast had have a lot of punch out to 500yds. They wack the crap out of my steel plate at that range. If you can find the bulk 58g zombie bullets they are a good buy for $70. I bought 1500 figured the barrel would toast bout 750. So I have enough for 2 barrels.
  2. I built one on a 20" krieger 1 in 13.5 twist. Shot 70g sierras in .320 with varget. And running Hornady 58g with varget as well. CCI 200 primers. It's fast haven't had it cronoed but she smokes. Killed a coyote at 200 last fall he never took a step. I like the varget, temp restisant powder.
  3. is ready for spring

  4. I know that the lens are plastic not glass but mine is not fuzzy at all. I would compair mine with my c-more, c-more is older though. I have however cleaned the cmore with creamy peanutbutter and it helped take out the scraches, it was used. Yes i know but its a hell of a polishing compound.
  5. How do i get a hold of Josh Halfman. He built my open. Is he still working on them?
  6. I really have not shot it that much. I will be shooting it in a match this weekend we will see. So far i like it!
  7. The flame were not my idea. I bought the gun just last week . It was built in 2001 the smith did a outstanding job on it. I have only 60 rounds through the gun personally. From what i have shot it, there is very limited muzzle jump compaired to my other open. I have an open with the c-more and comp and dont like it near a well as this one. I normally shoot SS so it was a big change with the c-more. This set up seems to be the SH**. The glass is a little smaller but so far i have had less problem finding the dot than the c-more. one thing i forgot is the jpoint is the newer mod. it has an auto lighting for the dot. when i started messing with it in the basement with limited light the dot did not look very bright. I changed the batt. this still did not help, this is when i got online and read about the auto bright adjustment. i shot it sat in full sun and loved it. The dot to me is brighter and clearer than my c-more. FYI the dot is a 4MOA.
  8. I guess this is a good place to ask this ???? the gun i bought was built by Josh Halfman. Anyone know of him or if he is still in bussiness. I had thought about getting a limited slide made for this one with the flames and all. I hope my pic posts we will see I got alot of non computer skills
  9. Light in the fridge is funny! I have three kids that have asked that ??? 100 time. Do i mess with them, Why YES i do. Until they open it enough it never shuts off. Now i am thinking how many times i have cracked the cover just to see if its on. HA HA. I really like the little sight. Dare i say i like it more than the c- more i have on my other. I have and will repalce it yearly then, i just did'nt know. I did not get the instruction manual with it so did'nt know. Thanks for the info i will stop cracking the cover on it, Maybe HA HA.
  10. I am pretty new with this open thing. I just bought an sti with a Jpoint milled in, looks awsome. I am wondering if the thing ever shuts off. I have a cap for it but dont know. I did try to get it into total darkness in the basement and it stayed on, very dim but was on. Do you guys pull the battries to shut it off? how often do you change the batts.
  11. I have also shot Kimber alot. Shot a custom II for one year and shot a old style CDP, non alloy lower. they both shot great with the lead. A buddy of mine is still shooting the custom II. I went to a Springer trophy match, have alittle touble with it getting dirty and not feeding. The kimbers never gave a lick of trouble. good luck chris
  12. I have some vv 350 coming and some MG 121's on the way to. By looking at the burn chart Tg is pretty hot. I didnt know if anyone had tried it. Thanks for the info.
  13. Thats what i am afraid of. It is pretty hot on the powder chart. Alot more so than the 3n37 and the 350. I just have a bunch of TG for my 40 cal. I have seen alot of guys going to solo 1000 i may see if i can get it. I did'nt figure i would like the answers i would get. thanks for the info
  14. Ok before i get hollered at i have searched and cant find the info i want. I am having trouble finding the VV powders. I am loading the super comp for the first time. I have a handfull of the 124 MG HP's. I plan to shoot 121 MG's. I looked in my Sierra book it lists the Tight group as accurate load at 5.7 @ 1250fps/125g bullet I know that is not pf, but none of the other loads are either, Legal stuff i guess. It lists 5.0 to max at 6.0 @ 1300. plan to use small rifle primers have starline brass. Anyone tried it?? Is it to hot? Thanks for the HELP! Chris
