So well I am not new to shooting in general. I have practiced with my uncle who is training me. I have done great while practicing on are range. I practiced all the usual strong hand, weak hand, draws, and the fundamentals.I was feeling pretty confident in myself that I was ready for my first match with my uncle. Now the little detail while have been practicing I have been using 10 round mags instead of IDPA regulation 8 round mags. So i get out to the range load my 8 round mags I'm hyped I'm ready not the the usual butterflies everybody says you should get, I'm truly confident in myself. The first stage is actually the stage I was looking forward to when we went in a walk through. We have to start with the gun loaded to full capacity and laying on a barrel. I'm so hyped and ready to go the buzzer goes off I grab my gun fire one shot and there is no second shot . I had absolutely know idea what had happened the mag had popped out a little. So I pushed it back in there and kept on rolling. I then realized I forgot to grab my extra mag and end up running out of bullets on my last target. So of course confidence level was shattered . So I pack up and head to my second stage and go to shoot weak hand and the mag starts popping out after every shot. So everybody thinks I'm just being a noob and squeezing the mag release. But, I was saying it was the gun or the mag so we put in a different mag and BAM BAM BAM it starts working again no problem. So lesson I learned is to check your equipment before you head to your match. Because if you never practice with it how do you know that it works.
