  1. Rather than the non-scoring edges touching if they instead aligned the perforations completely then whatever portion of the bullet that was not stopped by the target on the left would have been stopped by the target on the right and the underlying target would not be accessible.

  2. While it may be possible to drill out the hole into which the spring sits, I just went with the newer sear housings that already had a larger spring and plunger:

    I have also had light primer strikes in several of my M&Ps so I run the extra power striker springs in all of them:

    That extra power striker spring will result in a harder trigger pull with the stock sear but I don't notice any when I use the Apex Sear:

    I also run their Ultimate Striker Blocks in all of mine. They do have a package deal where they will install the sear, upgrade the housing if it is the older one with the smaller spring, and the USB.

  3. Some of the older ones had smaller diameter, weaker sear return springs that could lead to the gun not recocking the striker after it was fired.

    Unfortunately the only way I know of to tell is to remove the sear housing and then remove the sear from the housing to look under it.

  4. If it did not penetrate the barrel I would not consider that a full diameter hit on the barrel and would then score whatever it hit next.

    If it went on to go through a shoot target, was entirely within the scoring zone, and left evidence if a bullet hit (grease ring or arc of bullet), I would score the hit on the shoot target but not on the noshoot behind it.

    If it did not hit the shoot target (or did and touched the outer perf), I would score the hit on the noshoot behind it.

    I would also score a hit from a bullet bounced off the ground if there was clear evidence of the bullet going through a target afterward.

  5. 8.5.2 If a competitor holsters a loaded handgun at any time during a course of fire, it must be placed in the applicable handgun ready conditions (see Section 8.1). Violations will be subject to match disqualification (see Rule 10.5.11).

    8.5.2.1For a single action self-loader the safety must be applied.

    8.5.2.2 For double action self-loaders and revolvers the hammer must be down.

    My take would be that the hammer is not "down" and it is also not in the ready condition for 8.1.2.2, so definitely DQ.

    ETA: I would not say that it is cocked, but it is definitely not fully down nor de-cocked.

    8.1.2.2 “Double action” – chamber loaded, hammer fully down or de-cocked.

  6. People were likely confused with the rule in USPSA:

    10.2.8 If a course of fire stipulates shooting strong or weak hand only, a competitor will not be penalized for using the other hand (i.e. the other arm from the shoulder to the hand) to disengage an external safety, to reload or to correct a malfunction. However, the competitor will be issued one procedural penalty per shot fired while:
    10.2.8.1 Touching the handgun with the other hand while firing shots;
    10.2.8.2 Using the other hand to support the handgun, wrist or shooting arm while firing shots;
    10.2.8.3 Using the other hand on a barricade or another prop to increase stability while firing shots.

  7. I don't understand why so many people are against Limited-10. Yes, USPSA matches must honor the restrictions of the states in which they are hosted, but.... getting rid of L10 would mean that those people restrained by their states to only own limited capacity magazines could not compete outside of their state. Why go to the nationals to shoot limited if all you have and are allowed to own at home are 10 round mags? I live in SC but mostly shoot in GA. Thankfully neither of those states have mag capacity restrictions but I imagine that there are a lot of people in restrictive states that like to travel to shoot in other states.

  8. It's a volunteer sport. If you want to help, the match fee is X. If not, the match fee is X+$75. and you can give $5 back to each other person on the squad.

    Being old and broken myself I can understand those that can't and I am happy that they were able to just make it out and shoot. I try to run them through first and let them get home, especially in these 100 degree days. Those that are capable and lazy...I have no patience for them.

  9. Oops, you're right. We shot 09-09 but the same should hold true for that one. If you add the classifier without editing the paper targets, it won't let you score correctly. (Android v1.2.26)

    Originally I had planned to shoot both 09-01 and 09-09 using the same setup but shooting a classifier with three strings is a huge bottleneck and a real bummer for those who can't reload in time or get their shots off quickly enough.

  10. We shot 09-01 yesterday. I added the classifier stage and it correctly set it up as Fixed Time with 6 required hits per target. Almost everyone had some No Penalty Mikes but it wouldn't let us enter any NPMs and would not let us Review the score until the all 18 "hits" we recorded. We ended up backing out and saving what we had without going through the Review step.

    Today I finally figured out that if I edited the stage and went into the screen to Edit the targets I didn't have to change anything but it correctly changed the stage so that I could now enter NPMs.

  11. My Shield has a recessed dimple that the set screw on the rear sight goes into...meaning all windage adjustments really need to be done with the front sight.

    I don't recall seeing that on any of my full size and pro M&Ps but I had always just centered the rear and used the front for adjustment. All of mine were dead on out of the box (until I swapped out the sights).
