  1. Got mine in and tested only 9 rounds today due to a squib that happened (freedomammunition.com leftovers from before my Dillon 650 arrived this month). That said, so far so good with these winchester primers on the new pin. Didn't attempt to do any polishing beyond what it came with, but goes higher on the pencil test. :D

    Edit:

In case anyone cares. The gun is a Stock III that was optimized by Patriot Defense and the barrel was reamed to spec.

Well, after reading the thread I just had to have one. Ordered it the other day and got a nice email back today asking what kind of trigger I have, pull weight, etc. Looking forward to putting it to work.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

It must be a generational thing... When I was learning how to shoot... My dad taught me to ride the safety of the 1911 he was instructing me with. Is the current supply of striker guns with no external safeties just taking that method away? I've been hearing that whole thing, I want the smallest safety possible, a lot lately. To each their own for sure. Your gun, do whatever you want to it to make it comfortable for you, hack put a dildo on the recoil spring cap like a makeshift bayonet for all I care. But, I'll tell you what, when I shoot My stock2 and I have my thumb up on that big safety shelf, all feels right in the world.

    I ride the safety on a 1911.

    1. Positioned for it very close to the rear of frame.

    2. Single action gun, so you gotta run cocked and locked.

    3. Thin single stack gun.

On these double stack CZs and Tanfos I cannot physically rest my shooting thumb on top of the grip. It does nothing but break my support hand grip or cause the safety to bump on.

Is it ok to do that for USPSA production and IDPA SSP? I would think that would violate some equipment rule. I am just going to go with the 33 round mag springs for now. If it is good enough for Vogel, it is good enough for me.

According to DNROI, cutting that would not be USPSA Production legal. I recently had a conversation about reducing slide stops and thumb safeties. You cannot externally modify the externals like that.

  5. Ok, guys got some clarification from DNROI. Swapping to a smaller safety that is from the factory is fine. Modifying the outside of the safety is not.

Increasing the pressure needed to activate the safety is internal and is allowed. :D I'm going to experiment with increasing the force required to engage the safety. On 1911 I would drill the detent deeper, but not sure what the options are for a CZ/Tanfo

  6. The production appendix 22.1 mentions that you may not modify an external safety mechanism in any way that affects its function as a safety per the OFM design.

With this in mind many people like large extended safeties. However, what about making a safety smaller and tighter to the frame? My #1 issue with a CZ75 that I own is the safety is in a place that I put my hand. Extended ones eat my hand and break my grip. The standard one is decent, but I'd rather it be tighter.

Would the rules allow reducing the safety to be nearly flush if you can still use it?

Would the rules allow turning an ambi-safety into a right side only safety by eliminating the section that sits outside the frame on the left side?

    UPDATE:

DNROI states that we cannot modify the outside of the safety, but we can swap to a smaller factory safety. We can also increase the pressure required to activate it internally.

What would you say is the pull weight of the break?

Seems super light from the video...

I don't have a gauge, but it is heavier than my OEM (-) connector. Feels almost like a stock connector, except the break isn't quite as crisp.

having just shot us ipsc nationals i didn't find having 15 rounds in production made the shooting any easier or more enjoyable.

though it is an unpopular opinion, i could get behind having a unified rule set, either theirs, ours or an amalgam. i don't care.

Did you find that it took an adjustment period? Just curious if you felt less prepared than those shooting IPSC exclusively.

  9. If you have smaller hands check out a Gen 4. If you have hands too large, then check out a Gen 4 with the massive addon backstraps.

Otherwise the Gen 3 aftermarket and support is superior.
