I have a laser on my jp5 only because I can. I literally never use it.

No problem leaning for you cause you are a youngster but wait until

    you cannot lean anymore.

You will need something to make certain shots.

IDPA has a lot of hard leans and peculiar positions.  Great testing grounds for this theory.  I find that the laser is pretty useless under stress.

I thought it was cool at first but found out every single time it doesn't work for me (its just hard to maintain a right handed grip and still activate the laser and get that laser on target) and I just end up switching shoulders even if I am not very good.

If you want to find out on your own, the hard way, I recommend the Viridian HS1.  Very cool! : )

I have one in green as not to confuse me with my red dot but never use the laser and put it aside.

I think the lasers are only good for trick shots off the hip, but I am not a GM so who knows - I am welcome to being proven wrong and learning something.

    Thanks,

I was hoping to have a laser that I can turn on and off with a switch

so I could leave it on during the stage and then turn it off.

    Worth it or not?

    Good ones, bad ones?

    Recommendations?

I want to use it for hard leans where even an off set dot does not help.

Example would be to hold the gun off my shoulder to shoot around things.

2:01 stage was one where you start touching marks on a wall.  My video is deceiving as my muzzle was touching wall/stock on belt, but I was basically turned toward the way I wanted to start.

2:33 stage was what some would call a 180 trap.  There was a big handful of DQs there, unfortunately

    Thanks for watching!

Is there a reason why you hold your gun tilted to the right?

I had to cut my Devil Dog side charger in half and cold weld it again to fit my upper. Sounds clunky, but it works :)

What brand of upper do you have?

I have three of them. Many of my shooting friends have them.

Because we all have billet uppers, all we had to do is shave down the part that rides against the receiver.

Very easy to do with a file or grinder if your careful.

They will go on a forged receiver with no mods.

If its important to you, its easy to do. Far from necessary on a PCC. I prefer they not be staked.  Not that its hard to remove when necessary, but its ugly. I generally locktite mine and have yet to have one loosen up.

At any rate, mine came staked from JP.

    Same here,

After 30 years of shooting AR's, I have never had one come loose.

    None have been staked.

I think I mostly needed to make this video for myself, to just throw things on the table in front of me and see how they can fit together. I thought it would be a short one, apologies - it’s not. 30min, but 1.5x speed and chapters on YT should make this more or less consumable.

This might sound like beating a dead horse for some, but I think it’s worth repeating that ultimately in the end all skill progression comes down to improving your Fundamentals (Atoms) and learning to manage them efficiently, together with some minor additional stuff.

    Very well done,

    Need more of these!

    Thanks

  8. Glock 33 rd mag, Taran Tactical 10 rd extension.

I was told there is a video about how to smooth out the transmission between the follower and base pad.

I am having a problem with the spring or follower getting hung up in the mag tube.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

They all have some wiggle. But the higher and closer to the barrel the magazine is placed, the less issues you’ll encounter. Which is why JP, QC10, and Davinci have some of the fewest feed issues out there. And subsequently is why those brands can fetch a higher selling price. There’s a reason some lowers are $100 and some are $400

I guess we agree to disagree,

Yeah. He also shoot their ARV running scorpion mags. Not a Glock mag lower.

Scorpion mags are true double stack mags (like the colts) and are far more reliable than Glock mags.

Getting the Glock mag to present the bullet at the proper height/angle is the biggest challenge for a lower manufacturer. Often times, the cheap ones don’t get it right… or have excessive mag wiggle, which can cause very random feeding issues.

Adding extensions to the 31rd tube, which was never designed with the intention that the follower will leave the tube and attempt reentry is another wrinkle as well.

There are plenty of parts you can cheap out on with a Glock PCC build… the lower shouldn’t be one of them. Stick with JP, QC10 or Davinci if you want it to run 100%. If you’re good with 95%… go with the cheaper lowers.. PSA, NFA, etc.

    Sorry Dirty,

Can't agree with you on this one.

I have seen them all go down. Even Max with his JP5.

When I say I have had zero problems with my PSA lower, I don't include things like a high primer or some reloading problems I had.

I think barrels with a real feed ramp make up for some lowers that don't have perfect mag angles.

What would the difference be if you got there with say a 1" weighted spacer in front of the buffer vs a 1" spacer behind the spring?

The weight in front will increase the buffer spring strength and add reciprocating weight movement.

The weight in back will only add to the buffer spring strength.

I think you just want to argue this, and you well know CZ made a competition Production gun based on the successful TS competition gun and not a “carry gun.”  Also I owned a first gen TS and it had an amazing trigger for an out of the box gun. Sold it to shoot Production many years ago.

You also know most owners , polish, change the trigger, hammer, springs, extended FP and possibly more. All of this is far outside your “CZ says it needs to be” statement, and such it is in competitive sports of any kind.

Is the gun safe? Yes, as any competition gun is.

Chill a bit and enjoy the day.

I have no idea where I read or heard this

supposedly the most important part of the bullet when it comes to accuracy is the base, you could damage the nose and it wouldn’t affect accuracy as much as a damaged base

    True,

The last part of the bullet, the base, is the last thing that leaves the barrel.

If one side of the base is de formed it will send the bullet to one side or

the other. This is one reason why the crown of your barre is so important for accuracy.

This is the reason hollow point bullets are more accurate than round nose. The base is perfect

but the nose is usually pretty rough looking.

Shred's post is a good example.

For the same reason he started with home builds, then that Limecat Tron thing, back to home builds with the Brekke upper.. then to JP5.

Sponsorship dollars. The reason is sponsorship dollars.

You can take a $700 Foxtrot mike factory gun and drop in a hiperfire and a hydraulic buffer and you’ve got a very competitive PCC. Heck… it’s pretty much what the new Taran TR9 is… for $2000 less.

    Amen brother!!!!!!!!!!

    Nuff said.

That should tell you something about how good the JP-5 is.  If Batman were ever to decide to trade in his Batmobile for a new car, it would have to be for a very good reason.

I,m sure it was hard for Max to turn down a free 4,000 gun and sponsorship.

Just guessing but with his record of winning big matches I doubt that a softer

shooting gun will change his winning ways.
