  1. making a 170mm big stick w/ 4mm pads fit the gauge

i just took the plunge again to open division and have been reading quite a bit about 4mm grams pads on an sv big stick get 29 -30 rounds with 9mm major, also read that some people file something to make it fit.. my question is where do you file? ive read from Beven's thread that you dont file the pads you file the mag tube but where ? ....thanks

if this has already been covered kindly direct me where to find the info ....thanks again

If Beven does not file the pad the only other place to file is probably the feed lips at the top. This obviously depends how much needs to be filed off. Can you point me to Bevens thread where he discusses this.

  2. First of all, I want to sincerely thank everyone for expressing their interest.

I have been informed that my design may infringe upon existing patents that would prevent me from marketing it.

My original intent was not to sell a product for monetary gain, but to fill the need my wife and I had for extended loaders and to solve the 20ga dilemma.

The 20 ga problem was solved with a simple spacer and I believe that it should work with any loader that may become available.

Some time back I posted exactly how to do it and I hope people will make good use of it.

My desire to be helpful to friends and fellow shooters far exceeds any interest in profiting from them.

I will freely share my design and any technical knowledge I have on this with anyone who wishes to ask.

    Jim :)

edited to fix spelling before my wife sees this...

    Hi Jim,

Firstly thank you for sharing your knowledge even though you are not gaining anything out of it.

I have been looking for a DIY solution to tec loaders over the last few days and could not find it. Maybe I am not using the search function properly. Can you please dierct me to the post you made and perhaps any other tips you might have.

    Thanks

  3. Is it possible to take some pics when you have free time?

Oh sure, now everbody will have one

Here's a couple of quickie photos, I think you'll get the idea. You do have to experiment with the slot sizes, amount of tension on the screws in the tray and the length of the end of the tube so it doesn't hit the EZ loader gate when the gun recoils.

To do it right you also have to dissamble your trigger group to drill and tap it so you can screw the tray to it. That may be the easy part, remembering how to re-assemble it is the tough one

Thanks for the pics , and you dont have to worry about seeing it on my gun. I am in South Africa :)

  4. Kind of hard to explain, but you need two button head screws in the tec loader and two 'key hole slots' in the rail to hold the tec loader in place. When you push on the tec loader handle, the loader moves forward on the normal loading notches and then it can drop away after you load the shotgun.

Yeah.....no good with out pictures......maybe I should just make them :)

:surprise: I think I am more confused now :)

Is it possible to take some pics when you have free time?

  5. TRUBL is right, I did copy Jake, with his blessing. He's right about it only being good for one reload but at the Superstition Mtn match this year it was perfect, the highest round count on a shotgun stage was 14. It has also come in handy at certain matches when a quick reload between arrays can save some time. If its a big 20+ round deal where I'll have to load 8 or more then I don't bother with it.

As for reliability it doesn't foul things up at all now that I got it figured out.

Any tips on how to make it? Do you have some close up pics of the ramp?

  6. I had a nice franchi law12....It was a very nice gun...but NO aftermarket...and NO replacement parts were available

If I were to break ANY part on the gun...no can fix <_<

    I sold it

    Jim

    :(

    Thats sad to hear.

    Thanks for the info though

  7. You will be on your own for speed loader brackets, I suppose you can try the benelli one and then modify it (possibly)

There are tubes availible......as it has the same threads as the Beretta Extrema 2

    Tim

thanks for the reply. DO you know if there are any pistol grip stocks available for Franchis? A website I can visit?

  8. I just purchased a franchi semi auto shotgun. Does any one have experience if parts such as the arredondo speedloader assist will work on it. The website says its only works for benelli and remington shotguns.

    Thanks

  9. Yesterday, while shooting one of the stages at our local league, the switch on my click-switch cmore snapped off :surprise:

I was thinking of repairing it myself by either replacing the part if it is available in South Africa or by removing that switch completely and adding an on/off toggle switch. The toggle switch might not be a good idea but my thoughts are too move the 'broken' cmore to my shotgun and replacing it with my spare cmore I have lieing around. ANy thoughts on this?

My last option is to send it to cmore for repairs but with shipping etc I am really not in the mood of going through all of that red tape :angry2:

  10. I have been having a problem with my STI open gun for the last 3-4 matches ;) .

In every stage I shoot the shell seems to get stuck on its way out of the chamber.

Last night I was at an indoor range, and decided to unload the gun. This is what happened.

Now the same thing happens with an empty shell and it is driving me insane :( .I have read through the other forum posts but cannot seem to find a solution for it.

    I have tried the following:

    1. Cleaning the gun :)

    2. New mag springs

    3. Because I have a thumbplate on the safety, I removed it because I thought it could be short stroking it

    4. Examined the ejector for any breakages

    5. Examined the extractor as well. (It is an Aftec by the way)

    6. I have also checked for cracks on the slide and frame but nothing

Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks

  11. I have noticed that STI have replacement mags for para ordnance. What are the differences in these mags?

I know that the tapering on the Para mag is much higher. Is this the same on the STI replacement, or is the tapering lower down like on the STI mags for STI guns?

WIll this tapering have an effect on my round capacity if I buy the STI mag for Para?

    Thanks

  12. MC,

No problem. I have started using it as well and well like I said it does get consistant grips for me. Only problem is that my index finger now has hard skin due to the skateboard tape that I use....

Dont think my wife is too happy with that

    Cheers

  13. Its basicly used for the pinch and roll technique Matt teaches on his DVDs. The weak hand index finger is positioned under the trigger guard for consistant grips...

    Hope that made sense...

  14. Nolan,

I will try searching for the thread, but if you do come across it please let me know.

    Skywalker,

I have checked the diameter of the disconnector, but will recheck it.

Thanx to everyone for the input thus far...

    Cheers

  15. I installed the tri glide in my STI last night. Did not find it too difficult but I noticed two things that i would like an opinion on.

    1. When the slide is racked (Without ammo) the gun works fine. However when it is racked and left to go down slowly (I know it will never happen when shooting the gun) it hangs just a tad at the disconnector. This I assume is because there is too much of tension on the leaf spring. Question is should I adjust the tension on the leaf spring or leave it as is.

    2. Is there anyway to make the trigger lighter by adjusting the leaf spring. The trigger is crisp but seems a little heavy compared to what it was prior to installing the tri-glide...

    Thanx

    M

  16. Thanx for reponse guys, but if you find out anything new please let me know. I am not ina very big hurry to order them right now. Like you said Steve armscor is cheap  and the other reason i am considering buying it is that I am in South Africa, and I still have not come across a company in USA that will ship starline abroad...

If you know of a company please holla.. :D

    Cheers

  17. Hi Guys,

My gun is currently set up to use 38 supercomp brass from starline. I need to get some new brass and I would like to change to armscor rimless. The rimless brass I assume is the same as the supercomp from starline, please correct me if I am wrong ;) . Secondly, would I need to change anything on the gun (I was thinking I might have to retune the extractor again) :o . I am using an aftec, which has about 2000 rounds through it :D ....

And thirdly are there any problems with the armscor brass that I need to know about or are they just as good as the starline brass  .

    Thanx

    M

  18. I know the Arredondo makes a pretty good shield, but everyone I know that uses it says that they do not see a difference, does any one know if Limcats glare shield makes any differnence....

    Thanx

  19. Does anyone know what are the various weights of the magwells around. I have an STI that I recently bought and althouh it does have a magwell it feels very heavy, does anyone have the various weights...

    Thanx

  20. I know I'm thread drifting here but just really curious (and this is a serious question, mind you). Mo, why do you think your PF will change by installing a different guide rod? Thanks.

    MC,

I didnt think it would change but then again I do not have a chrono so I just could not test and make sure. I suppose before a national I would have to double check just in case...

But I didnt think it would change...

    Hope I made sense,

    Regards
