Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. As I look at the stages, I am perplexed by all the optional targets. If a shooter in the tac optics division uses a 45 or 60 round mag in his rifle, does that move him to open?
  2. Plus 1 for Baltimore. I would llike another rule clarification. If we are going to measure AR magizines, does that mean shotguns with tubes that hold over 8 move to open?
  3. I still believe that making hits on all the targets manditory is the way to go. If that lengths the match then make the times shorter. The tough targets separate the great shooters from the good shooters. The gamers may want to stop shooting before hitting all the targets, but the people who want to develope there skills will shoot till the clock stops them. The game should be about the shooting more than about the winning.
  4. The gaming penalties could be eliminated if all targets require hits. You shoot till you hit or until you time out and get the penality for misses.
  5. Going prone? Think back to gym class in elementary school. Start out doing a 2 hand squat thrust. 2 Hands on the ground, kick your feet back and drop to the ground. After you've done a couple with 2 hands go back a do it again just putting your week hand on the ground and your strong hand forearm on the grond and kick back. Simple, just a squat Thrust with the gun in your hand. Kevin is right about having the gun all the way out of the holster befor you start down. Guys with a spair tire or a bad back may want to turn 20 degrees or so, to the target to be able to get low enough to see the sights on the gun.
  6. The idea of making changes is to get more people to come, right? If you want more shooters, and if you feel there has to be a change in the COF, add matches that are easier and more fun. Adding Ambi-Plates or Unsupported Standards will mean that the best weakhand shooter wins. When do you shoot a weak hand string in Bullseye. Most IPSC shooters dread weakhand stages. Keep it simple, easy and fun. I just don't see new shooters, or even some of our old shooters lining up to shoot The World Weakhand Championship.
  7. I've checked the NRA website for the John Bianchi Heriteage event and don't see a course of fire in the approved 16 for that match. Is that the secret event that we cann't practice for? Indecision, more matches, different guns, new skills. Sounds like alot of fun if you have an unlimited buget and you don't work a 40 hour week 50 weeks a year. Reloading, gunsmithing, range set-up for new events, practice time, new skills to aquire, open sight gun, new prescription for my glasses. Just thinking about all of this is almost overwhelming. The Bainchi Cup is not something that is broken. You can not fix what isn't broken, but you can mess with it until it can not be fixed. The Cup needs to be promoted. Guns & Ammo, Shooting Times, American Handgunner magazine would help. Keeping things the same makes it easier for new, and keeps the old shooters coming back. Methuselah
