Way more practical than a howitzer.

Thanks, mr helper.
I see the value in getting my 5" out of the safe. I NEVER shoot it anymore. The 6" does absolutely everything better. This gets me a better backup.
-
I wouldn't give up my 6" gun for any reason. I've never shot any thing that was as well balanced, flatter or more accurate.
But I'm intrigued to get my 5" gun to have the same sight radius...

It's a $500 plastic gun. I stuck it in the safe in my nightstand.

The problem is that the factory barrel falls apart around 12-15 yards. Everyone agrees that aftermarket barrels help.

The telling moment for me was with the gun in a vice and a bore sighter laser pointed at the wall I slowly racked the slide. There was no time between the initial movement of the slide and the tilt of the barrel.
Could you please explain what your comment "There was no time between the initial movement of the slide and the tilt of the barrel," means? Is that a good or bad thing and why?
Thanks
Sure. The bullet has NOT left the barrel before the gun drops out of battery. Therefore the gun cannot shoot in a straight line by my hypothesis.

No clue. My 650 works nearly flawlessly.
-
Nope. I tried a 17# spring and it made no difference.

Its limits prohibited me from using it confidently in a match. I can't HOPE that match directors don't use any targets beyond 12 yards.
-
I'll be happy to do target stands for you. I've done a zillion of them for the last couple of years, including 100 for a club in SC, over 65 for Fredericksburg, dozens of huge ones for a LE agency in TX, among others.
I don't deal in plates/ poppers as the AR steel has been too expensive til recently.

I think the CRSpeeds are utter junk. I've had them for a while and have spun the body on the bracket multiple times and the inserts fit poorly. Much like their holster it looks better than it is.
The DAA Racemaster is outstanding but the price is out of my budget, which is why I own exactly one. I haven't tried the racer, but I probably will.

I wouldn't trade a glock for an m&p. I hate the glock grip, I hate the trigger and can't stand the Koolaid drinkers. But at least it'll shoot in a strait line. I considered putting an aftermarket barrel in it, but it wasn't worth $180 for a cheap plastic gun.
The m&p just couldn't deliver enough accuracy to reliables call shots beyond 15 yards. Unacceptable to me.
I'll stick with limited.

The new barrel made zero difference in mine. It tightened the lock up just a little but group size opened up even more. I bought that new barrel about 3 weeks ago.
-
I tried desperately to make an 9L work for production. I messed with bullet weight, bullet coating, powder, and even swapped the barrels, only to make no noticeable improvement in accuracy. From a rest at 25 yards the gun would NOT do better than 6-8".
I gave up. Its got a great grip, excellent trigger which can be easily improved upon, perfect reliability and the worst accuracy of any pistol I've ever touched.
-
It DOES seat the round more squarely, as the spring lines the bullet up before seating.
But in the end it makes adjustment quick and easy. I use lots of different bullets and its the bomb.
-
Unless the flyers are high it seems unlikely that the problem is early unlock. Remember, the barrel pointsup at unlock.
-
I want this SO bad. Its a shame it doesn't meet SS reqs. Its totally cool and allows you to take a 5" gun and create multiple platforms.
-
So sorry, Corey.

I've shot 9major thru a G17. Not an issue. Didn't fit in the mag well, but it worked.

I've tried lots of bullets over the years. Some great some not so much. I'm pleased to report an EXCELLENT transaction with Chandler at the new BBI.
Bullets were ordered thursday nite and were received Monday. The package was sealed tightly and there weren't bullets all over the place. Seen that mess way more than once.
The bullets themselves are actually remarkable. Very consistent coating, no dents, divets or flaking. The load data I got from chandler was dead nuts and I made power on the first try.
Good job.

The funny thing was that I LOVED to hate it. If we hadn't been transferred, I'd still be there sweating and complaining. Its the greatest thankless job I ever had.

I see MD's burn out quickly when they travel to the match on a separate day for setup, then travel back again on match day. I try to get them to run it like we do at C-ville, where we setup on match day morning.
That may mean adjusting to the amount of help you have. Until everything is in place (lots of help/smooth) one might ease up on the stage design (props/work).
I wish I had a dollar for every MD that didn't follow the advice over the years. I'd have a nice steak dinner.
Its just not possible with a match as big as Fredericksburg. Setup takes a good 3-4 hours to build 7 stages. With an average of over 100 shooters on a Sunday, first shot needs to be fired at 9am to be off the range by 3:30-4. Its hard and I did the drive way more times than I wanted to... but its just the way it was.

I've been the chrono bitch more times than I care to recall. When is USPSA going to get serious about it and write an appropriate set of rules for chrono?
I have gone out of my way to explain what I expect of squads and STILL have had idiots pull their guns out behind my head.

Bad ass. If only the 27 round 45 mag would fit the gauge.
