  1. Dave,

Yes I know I can order a mandrel but the mandral is not the problem the moonsetter tool wont work with your clips because of the way the tips are made.

I used starline, winchester ap, and find the best fit with remmington nickle which is a pain to reload ..I have 38super comp brass also and that dosent even fit any moon clips that i have and i have smith..tk clips

I mailed your clips back today that you sent me for free and thank you again for being so kind and let me try them first. I dont know what other shooters are using that they say fit so well but I not having much luck at all.

You were kind enough to send me a couple to try out and i need to return them

I was disappointed that the ones for the 8 shot 627 wont work with the moon setter tool..

I still have the best fit with smith clips and they still arent great.

I will mail them back to you tomorrow man i wish they did work it is almost impossable to find a good clip for the 38 super.

  3. I wish some one would make a good moon clip for the 38 super revolvers.

I have tried the tk ones and the ones from Heath and neither are better than the smith and wesson clips.. all are very expensive.

  4. Firewalker,

Having fun is what it is all about to me. My scores aren't that great but I always leave the range smiling.

A friend of mine always says a bad day at the range is more fun than a good day at work.

  5. I went to Brownells web sight and typed in gold in the search box and followed the link to the s&w sights.. I don't think this sight is in the catalog and if you can get Brownells wholesale price it will save you some money.

  6. I got my gold bead friday and tried it out this week end.. Looks pretty good it was a big adjustment for me from the red optic..

I think the gold bead is worth the price.. I got teh SDM with the rounded nose..

  7. I am looking for a Gold bead front sight for a revolver..686 PC model 38 super with the interchangeable front sight.

Does anyone know who sells these.. I have tried to contact smith and wesson but so far no reply.

    Thanks,

    Leroy

  8. Tom,

Which 38 super did you get? I have the 686 6 shot and i would love to find an 8 shot one.

I have a lot of trouble with the moon clips for the 6 shot can't seem to find any that will keep the bullets straight and not wobble..

I love the gun but it burns me up that there are no relly good moon clips out there that work like the ones i have seen for the 8 shot.

If you have any luck finding any let me know.. I did get a new mailing from brownells that have both the 8 shot and 6 shot clips for the 38 super but i havent ordered any yet they are a lot thinner then the ones from tk customs., so i dont kown how they will work. I have trouble understanding why these cost so much more than ones for a 45 acp...

Have fun with the 38 super they are a lot of fun.

  9. Thanks for all the replies.

Yes I was using Federal primers.. I have loaded around 15 k on this machine with no problems like this.. I dont really care for the way the 650 is set up in the primer system. I usually remove it and clean it every 500 rounds it is a pain .Sometime i wish I had just gotten a 550b instead. the case feeder is nice but it jams up a lot too so with all the jams, a 550b is probably just as fast. Dillion was very nice and has my replacement parts on the way I hope i dont run out of ammo befroe it gets here.

Thanks again for all the replies and have a Happy New Year and shoot and load safe and keep those saftey glassed on ..

PS> i am considering wearing ear plugs while loading too.

    Boom!!! man it was loud!!!!!

  10. Hello

This is a safety issue. I have a Dillion xl650 and was loading and a primer exploded setting off all the primers in the Magizine shield must have been at least 90 in the shield. BOOM!!!!!!!!! and destoryed a plot of parts.

Lucky i wasnt hurt but guys be careful loading and wear eye protection all the time if i hadn't been wearing safety glassed it would have been nasty.Load and shoot safe. I dont' think it is a problem with Dillion presses, just an isolated experience.

  11. I had some trouble also and i just went to federal primers and solved the problem

I had trigger jobs done on my 686 and 66 and my gunsmith puts a small set screw on the side of the frame to retain the mainspring screw, and keep it from backing out. I havent seen many gunsmiths do this. I think it is a great idea.
