It this a NRA approved match? Is it a regional or state match.

Why is it going to take 2 days just to shoot the 4 events?

  2. Hey,

Why can't we just keep it simple?

    Saftey if first for sure.

    Squad Open shooters together

    Squad Metlic shooters togehter

    Squad open modified together

Open goes prone where they want to.

After all open is supposed to be open!

    It can't be that hard!

  3. Well here is my 2 cents worth.

This was only my 3rd year shooting AP..And my first trip to the cup.

I did shoot 25 matches this year tagging along with Kevin around the country and had a blast!!!

It does seem like there are a lot of local clubs dying out around the country and less intrest in AP shooting from what it was in the past.

Sounds like Tom Fee is spending a bundle in Tulsa building this new range and I think that is great. WE should get behind him because I beleive it will help build more interest in all shooting sports..

The Idea of the USAPA sounds good to me.. the Fee's aren't that much for what we will be getting in return.

I do beleive getting the rules back to the 1997 area would help bring back more of the lost shooters and also help bring in more new shooters as well.

The way the NRA shoved the rules down out throats in MHO is what has turned away a lot of great shooters..

The idea shooting 3 COF"S is a great idea..Maybe take the scores of the first to runs to determine class winners and say maybe 25% go for the gold on the 3 day..

Throw in some different cof's is cool too... if in the match or side matches..

If I take a week and spend that kind of cash man that is a lot more bangs for the bucks :)

The triple crown is a hot idea also that will make a lot of us get humble real quick.. speaking of myself on that one..

So count me in I am all for the USAPA

  4. ON the comp.

My AP gun is almost like kevins except for the barrel..My EGW alum. comp busted at the Texas State Match. It had been cracked for about 7 or 8 k rounds man I was hoping it would last a few more...It had about 10 in it arleady. All that pratice Kevin put me through that week... and i still shot like a girl!!!!:( NO offense ladies....!!!Vera Koo kicked my butt...But I am a rookie and old too....tired eyes.... good excuse rite..

And Vera can shoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a nice lady...

I had a new one same kind insatlled with the edges releived, EGW says that is the trick.. Man wish they had told us in the beginning...But Kevin keeps his clean as a whistle and I didnt :( so that is very importatnt rookie mistake here I did clean mine but Kevin shines his ... so more work now...

Anyway I took Kevin's advise and built my gun on a Forged Les Bear frame and slide and glad i did it is an awsome gun... If I can ever shoot as good as it does I will do cart wheels across the parkin lot.... Yea rite... Bones too old for that but never say never..

    So hope this helps

  5. I dont know if this is the right place for this, but I have made a lot of friends in the south..

I am worried about them if anyone knows how they faired from this vast storm let us all know..

    We care

    Leroy

  6. Well I guess I will jump in here guys and try not to make a fool of me.

Removing Kevin from the committee was a SLAP in the face!!!!!!!!!!!!Grrrrrrrr

I am new to AP shooting only my 3rd year. But I know first hand how hard Kevin works for our sport. Not only shooting matches all over the country but helping new shooters like myself and going out of his way to keep us going. Man he has helped myself, in many ways..and many other shooters also..

I am excited to see Jeff on board he is a great shooter in many games and that is a plus!!!!

But why kick Kevin out ??? Hum ..because he knows what we want and need to keep the sport growing.. ???? Not a yes man MJ is right on target there.

I get so disgusted having leaders like Van Horn and his cronies, tell us we can't draw from a holster, go prone with a 1 lb trigger pull and be safe..Grrrrrrr..

We have vetrans from wars, policemen, and women, hunters that put food on the table and we need his direction to shoot safely? Give me a break!

It is sounding like our goverment telling us we need more goverment to lead us because we aren't able too ourselves.. Is Bill and Hillery running things here?

Yes I am angry. Don't get me started...

I can't fly an airplane but maybe I can pull some strings and get on a FAA rule committee.. Hum..

Now do you put the wheels down before landing or after?

Who cares just put them down when we tell you to and if that dont work we will change the rule next year. Ya rite...

Like i said I am new here but i have gotten my feet wet and I do feel like the NRA gods are tryin to kill ap shooting. It don't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Some squeeky wheels need replacing for sure, but I beleive we need to replace some upstairs.. It is running downhill and I don't like the smell.

ICASE may happen next year for sure. We can shoot the old rules and have a blast. Have a real rule committee with real shooters.. With real ears. and a brain to go with the ears.

I may go back to the cup in 06 but I may not.. Not sure at this point.

I need to close now before i go off on a deep end, but before I do.

I want to thank all who work so hard to support our sport, also Brian, for letting us view our voices on this great forum..

  12. Ok I guess i will jump in and give my 2 cents worth..

I have only been shootin ap for 2 years now and went to my first cup. Thanks for all the help from Kevin and Alan..

I don't like the trigger pull rule for sure... I just don't see the need.. All the AP shooters I have seen can handle 1 lb or less-- with no problem at all with saftey.

I don't like the grip saftey rule either... Hey we have a thumb saftey and when you draw the grip saftey is de-activated ... what is the point

However if you think about it this is the only acurcery game with no bulls eye!

I will take a bulls eye to shoot at.. i need all the help i can get ..

I hear some of you pros say the light don't matter but in just my little time shootin it makes a big difference to my tired old eyes.

I guess we are all different...

But hey it is the NRA's game and we have to play by the rules or go home..

I just want to thank Kevin and all the other shooters on the commettiee for all the hard work and time you put in for our defense...

Martin had a some great points also...

I did not know John Cameron my loss for sure from I have heard and saw at the cup.. He must have been a great guy hell I hope i can leave that kind of impression... So I said i would not go back to the cup but here is eating crow.

I agree with Martin it would all be in vain if we don't Hell it is still a lot of fun and a great bunch of people and even not knowing John I will still go back for him...

I am just gonna suck it up and pratice more.. I aint that good any way but I am having a lot of fun and meeting some great people.. and I beleive that is what it is all about to me...

    Leroy

    Still lookin for that buzzard!

  13. Steve,

For once we seem to be on the same page. You're right. I'm the one that brought up the black x ring. I originally wanted a 1 or 2 inch dot. Then it grew to 4 inches to help out the Metallic guys. I just brought it up. There had been submissions to the comittee about it.

I shot a match in Topton, PA on Sunday and we tried the black dot on the mover. Actually, we were playing with both a black and a white x ring. Doug's concern was that you wouldn't be able to see your hits on the target with it being black. It's surprising just how well you can see them. I didn't like the white. It seemed to blur out the whole middle of the target. We tried marking the perforations with a black marker. That didn't work very well.

For those of you that don't like this idea, try it. You may just like it. Just because you can see the middle doesn't mean that you're automatically going to shoot a better score. Since it looks like we will be stuck with a 2 pound or better trigger pull we will need the time we used to find the target center to work the trigger. Brian has said many times to either mark the target so that you can see the rings or do away with the rings all together. I think marking the target is the better approach.

  14. It was my first cup I had a great time and meet some wonderful people.

I want to thank evryone for all the hard work, and all the guys that helped me get there...( Alan--Keven!!:))

But I don't want to see the new trigger pull rule.

So It is clear that the N R A will lose a lot of money from approved and registered matches now and to add to that.. If they kill action pistol, I will remember that when i get all the letters from the nra asking for doations, I wont be getting out my check book anymore..

    Leroy

  15. 5 plates at 15 yds is plenty of time.

in action shootin we shoot 6 8 inch round plates

    10yds 6 sec

    15 yds 7 sec

    20yds 8 sec

    25 yds 9 sec.

It can get tough especially at 20 yds...

The way i pratice is use my timmer but dont set the par time

I just go on the buzzer and go slow and get best results and get them in plenty of time...

A good friend told me slow is smooth and smooth is fast...

It seems like the slower i go the faster i get..

    Hope this helps.

    Leroy

  16. Steve,

We had a steel match sunday and before we started Kevin and I ran the plates..

But at least I had a witness on the 45 besides the Buzzard..

We ran the Praitcal before that Now I wont talk about that :(

It was sad Kevein had me going prone so much I couldn't hardly walk ... Gettin too old here ...
