Wouldn't a reduced striker spring work more reliably with a lighter striker?
The lighter the striker is, the faster it travels (for a given spring weight). The faster it travels, the more energy it has when it hits the primer.
Kinetic energy = (1/2)(mass)(velocity^2)
Since velocity is squared and mass isn't, it seems as though a fast, light striker would be more effective than a slow, heavy one.
