  1. I don't see Production becoming the predominant division at the highest levels of competition. It may become predominant by shear numbers with all the new shooters coming into the sport.

You don't believe it's already at the highest levels of competition, especially now that KC and JJ will be competing in it?

Not at all what I said. It does not take either of those guys to make Production a big deal. Bob Vogel does it every day.

When I think of something being predominant I think of it as what everybody shoots, especially at the higher levels. I don't know what would make a world class shooter want to give up an STI or SV to go shoot a caracal or a Glock. Well actually I probably do. $$$$$$

I think there are guys shooting at the top who are getting bored and want the challenge of shooting Production I guess.

When Limited and Open shooters become as rare as revolver shooters then you can call Production the predominant division of USPSA.

I agree. They are more than likely moving for money and/or challenge.

    It's 100% about the money.

  2. Just got back from it….

The dramatic parts of this movie played like a bad episode of Army Wives narrated by Forrest Gump (seriously). Some people in the audience laughed at how cheesy it was. (I was among them)

The action scenes were largely very compelling and exciting. Lots of dudes getting shredded.

there you go undermining the us navy now

  3. I talked to a friend of mine that got pressured by a top shooter into handing out a double this year. He wont forget it. He even admitted that if it had just been a regular dude, he wouldn't have scored it a hit.

I think some top dawgs throw their weight around. I don't like it.

is have seen this and its bullshit

  5. In my club the Blue Grass Sportsmen League http://bgslinc.com/, we know what the officers make. Actually, only the Secretary has a salary. If there is talk of a major purchase, the members vote on it BEFORE the purchase is made.

How in the world, can the USPSA members allow the 'BOD' to hide how much their their individual salaries are? How in the world, can the USPSA members allow the BOD NOT allow the members to voice their opinion on a major purchase, such as the Steel Challenge? Even after the purchase of the Steel Challenge, the members have not been told the cost. How can this be?

    A.T.,

with all due respect -- the board members are not paid, they are volunteers.....

As far as what the individual folks in the USPSA office are being paid -- Rob made an excellent point above. There are valid human resource management principles involved in keeping those individual numbers, and performance reviews private. (Really -- if there were a problem there, we should be looking to replace the Executive Director, who's hired in part to oversee those issues.)

Now -- finding out what the staff costs in total, how much their salaries increased over last year, etc -- maybe....

Nik, I appreciate the tone of your reply.

I still wonder about the secrecy behind the salary of the President, and the purchase of Steel Challenge. This information should be made available to the membership, via the web site. Also, the members IMO, have the right to see ALL expenses, since it's their money being spent. Spent wisely, or foolishly.

http://www.uspsa.org...es/20101106.pdf look on the 5th page took less than 5 minutes maybe you should do more work instead of just demanding answers

  6. how many people that are complaining about the new rule have actually weighed there guns triggers (only 2 people did on this tread so far) i would be surprised if just polishing lowered your trigger below 3lbs. those that are for sure below are custom trigger jobs sent to a shop that cost at least $150

    1. Would your perspective change if is was 5lbs...for ALL shots in Production? 4lbs?

    2. We could make that same argument for all the divisions...and apply 90% of the "reasons" that are being made for Production.

    1. yes, all shots at a minimum weight would be singling out a specific mode of firing (like NRA action pistol did) DA/SA

2.not sure about that one the other divisions are not for "entry level" and supposed to be "production" guns

i see where you are going with this, does DNORI have to make a ruling on every specific part that is made for the numerous model's of guns that competitiors will be trying to improve? at some point a minimum trigger pull makes sense. but if we opened it up to a minimum pull of say 3lbs and you can change parts willie nillie it would not be production anymore it would be limited lite. would making a new division with only stock guns and parts make more sense?

  7. To me the real problem with this rule is that in Production there are two distinct platforms (Striker, DA/SA) that compete with parity under the current rule set. This rule affects only one platform and therefore will have some undetermined effect on that parity. A rule change like this is significant and merits a more thorough examination including plenty of input from members.

what if it was a 5lb first shot with a DA/SA gun? and 3lb with striker fired?

  8. Been shooting a Glock with a $50 home trigger job for a long time, it's pretty light I hate to think I have to go backwards on that gun.

The thing that is disturbing is that at least one AD didnt know this was coming and from outward appearances was rammed through. What was the rush, crisis, etc?

Make that two AD's. This is an idea that has been just below the surface for some time now. The trigger weight idea has been voted on at least once and maybe twice, losing both times. This time it reared its head during a discussion of the XDM trigger system and shazzam it was passed 7-2.

Any follow-up on that trigger system discussion? If I buy the trigger from Springfield, then it's OEM and therefore legal under D4 21.6, but if I buy it directly from supplier for Springfield will it be considered aftermarket and therefore illegal under the same rule?

no one is gonna ask you where you bought it right?

I'm not bitching about how it will affect me as a shooter, but how it will make the sport more complicated. Heck, I would probably sell more parts and do more work reversing stuff, but that is NOT what I want. I want the sport to be easy to participate in and judge.

really it would make it more complicated how? what if they said you can do anything as long as it is above 3lbs first shot how is that more complicated? it would remove at least 3 pages out of the rule book

Has there been an indication that they intend to do that? No. All they have done is piled on yet another rule that will obsolete plenty of people's equipment (not mine, my G34 breaks at 3.5#), and will give shooters one more thing to worry about when they think of trying Production division.

We need consistent, stable rules that only change when there is a clear, well supported reason to change them.

how do you know they wont do that, why don't we wait and see what the BOD comes up with the procedure and if anything will be deleted on the rules, shooters have to worry about chrono (i would put a large bet against any people owned a chrono before they started shooting competition and had to make sure they are above power factor) having to buy a weight is very cheap compared to a chrono
