  1. i tried them recently, and will be switching to them next year. They performed as well as i could expect.
  2. Great idea! I have been considering the same thing at our local club as a way to fast track new shooters, plus possibly retain more who come to "try". We get a fair number of people out who are gun enthusiasts, but don't have much (if any) experience shooting in formal events. Safety is a real challenge sometimes when they come with bad or lax habits. Let us know how it goes so we can all learn from your experience.
  3. +1 on the Checkmate and Springfield mags. They are the only mags that have been 100% reliable in my Trojans with out having to modify either the mags or the gun.
  4. Both are good, just a matter of how much you plan to use it and what level of quality you expect. Just my $ 0.02
  5. If you are running the stock recoil spring with light ammo like 115 gr white box or similar, replace the spring with a 10 lb. to start and you can even go lighter if needed. Personally I run a 9 lb recoil spring with 15 lb. mainspring and do use shock buffs.
  6. The real question is how they hold up after 5k rounds or more......... I am a sucker for a bargain, but hate guns that rattle when you shake them (especially when new).
  7. Thanks for the info! I was leaning towards the 773's but now have new insight. In theory the open front should be easier for those wrapped way around back
  8. Considering Safariland models 773 or 771 mag pouches for single stack and IDPA CDP, but can't find any real specifics on the differences. What is your preference and why?
  9. You missed a really great match! It is held at an a traditional IDPA club, but with more liberal rules allowing cross over from USPSA. Plus, Bill and his sidekick JT are really a hoot and worth the match fees just to listen in to their antics. And in terms of value, this match is a class by itself with the low match fees compare to what most are charging these days.
  10. Great match, well run with excellent stages that were challenging but very do-able for all skill levels. A couple stages used all 3 guns, others just 2 guns, plus a pistol only and shotgun only stage. A big THANKS to Bill and JT for all their time and effort in putting this match together.
  11. I just picked up a 625 and am looking for some recommended loads for it. I have been running 200 gr. SWC - hard cast with 5.1 gr Bullseye as an IDPA CDP load, but need to swith to round nose bullets for obvious reasons in the revo. I prefer to stay with 200 gr round nose considering the increasing costs of components.....looking for preferences in bullets types as well....cast vs. poly coated vs. plated vs. jacketed?
