I like my knives. I've managed to obtain a fairly large collection over the years. But never in my mind have I seen a knife and said, "boy that would look sweet next to my 1911"
Now, I know some craftsmen that work in wood make grips for knifes and guns just the same. I can see that. But if you are writing an article about the latest greatest super-duper revolver why on earth does there need to be a pocket knife in all of the included pictures?
If you open a guitar magazine, you don't see a drum stick lying next to all the guitars.
I don't think I've seen a knife magazine. Do they have guns in all their pictures?

A most enjoyable web site I recommend to your attention: SightM1911 must reading for 1911 fans.
Did you know a 1911 pistol took down a Japanese airplane during WWII?
Awesome story.
I thought these where fun too.
Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson
Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson who spent the later part of his illustrious career looking after the harsh, massive Texas Big Bend Country, packed a Colt .45 auto throughout his distinguished career. When asked why he carried Colt's .45 Government Model, he replied in typical Ranger fashion... 'Because they don't make a Colt .46!'
Texas Ranger Charlie Miller
A citizen noted the hammer back on the 1911 carried in the waist band by Charlie Miller, Texas Ranger. The Citizen asks, "Isn't That Dangerous?" Charley replied, " I wouldn't carry the son of a bitch if it wasn't dangerous."

Why isn't this thread a sticky. Why doesn't It have it's own sub-forum. Heck, it's own site. singlestackelitist.com is available.. Maybe I should build a club website. Hmmm

" I once believed life was about facing and conquering challenges we encounter each day. However during a conversation with a young double amputee soldier that belief changed. I had said to him, "You have quite a challenge ahead of you." to which he replied, " No, I only have an opportunity everyday." The short, simple, reply from this hero touched my soul. I immediately understood that a challenge provided opportunity, and from that moment forward I decided to take every challenge and turn it into an opportunity for my self and those around me. "
Just a little paraphrase from an article my dad wrote recently that I found pretty profound.

Fellow SSE/SC members, Are any of you up for some real fun?
What I am thinking is that fellow SSE/SC members that can get slots for the Open/Lim-10 Nationals and we all shoot with the SSD rules of 8 rds only for major and see how many of those L-10 shooters we can beat up on.
Any takers?
That's the kind of shennanegans that I'm all about.

Thanks..
Oh, and I had been caught up on all 32pages of this thread before I posted. I am not one of THOSE guys.... That is the kind of behavior you would expect from a plastic gun shooter.
Zhunter - looks like the squads have changed again, but I'll be shooting Friday and hope to stick around the rest of the weekend. I don't have a room lined up so I am hoping the weather is nice.

Hey don't count out Florida! You can shoot a match every weekend here too! And we have a few GMs, etc. that are floating around.
Nope Florida is out.. All you need to do is read the headlines coming out of that state to know Florida doesn't count.. figuratively and literally.
Within my searches, I only found threads on specific locations or options.. I wanted something more inclusive of the entire country.

Z, I think you forgot about reading assignments for Vagus ..........Brain freeze from the snow possibly???
No one said anything about reading anything..

Application
I can't think of anyway to prove previous SS matches, so here I hope being squadded for the single stack nationals will do. http://www.1911ssc.org/Pages/Squad_List.html (Squad 10, shooter 282 )
My toy guns aren't even plastic.

Where would the shooting mecca be? Between the best competition, proximity to matches on local and national levels, and other gun related considerations?
Just Curious..

Any piece of machinery needs to be fine-tuned, and then broken in.
Even new cars that cost upwards of $20,000 have a "break-in period".
I've never bought a new car and had it towed to mechanic to get it to run is the thing......

I don't understand how some of these gun show circuit guys roll into a town and expect to sell a gun when the local shops have them beat by 10-15% anyway.
At the very least they should know what the the brownells and midway prices are.. WTF $30 used 10round glock mags?

See the News Report
This prosecution is certainly questionable and scary. The sad thing is that a fellow gun owner must have dropped the dime on him.
The public ranges around me have full time DNR guys there now..

No, you are right.
There is a handful of forms you have to fill out for authorization to unlock and after a 7 way mandatory waiting period you can then check out the key from the county sheriff office on Thursdays between 2:30 -3:00pm at which time you can bring in a notarized form stating intent to apply for a permit for ammo purchase if of course you have your $50/round tax stamps
