YEP .. .and don't bite your nails

4.3 of AA2 behind a 200 grain hardcast out to 1.185. Burns clean pretty soft to shoot, probably want an 12-14 # recoil spring as well. keeps me around 169-172 consistantly.
remember when working up loads in YOUR gun... your chrono is your second best friend.. right behind common sense
-
I run 1.185 in mine and never have any problems. Typically I use 180's or 200's with fast powders AA2. You pretty much have to make sure you chamber and lead are cut to work with the longer length then you are good to go.

You will definitely appreciate the roller handle especially when doing those marathon loading sessions. I am not sure why Dillon doesn't just make it the standard handle eliminate the ball ?
Good luck

6.0 G AA#2 for 180's Hard Cast 1.185
Makes Major shoots nice..

Keep in mind as the RO you are there to assist the shooter...I have had a few shooters fall while I was running them... make a quick assessment if they are OK ....can always provide guidance on their safe recovery...let them get shooting again.. I have had one shooter who was so out of sorts I stopped him, there was no unsafe gun handling but I felt there might me if he continued..helped him sort himself out and let him re-shoot.

I forget what Master/GM it was at the nationals several years ago ... drew and broke a shot about 6 inches in front of his right foot... build on good habits and safe handling now...

Bullets forward...
Try this...
Mags on belt bullets facing forward..
Raise hands above shoulders.....palms facing forward...
just drop your left hand to the first mag in your belt...
grab the mag and raise it in front of your eyes...
If you use your index finger on the front of the mag it is ready to go...
If you did this bullets facing back... then you have you flip or rotate the mag...
It is all about finding the simplest, repeatable way to grab them out of your belt.. and stuff them into the bottom of your gun...
Remember Slow is smooth .. and smooth is fast !

Ditto to the Lee U die..
I also use the Factory Crimp die and 9MM life is swell...
FWIW I also use the L and FCD for my 40 as well...
Not so critical for 45acp

Cheaper than a boat... add in fishing ..... ... like the man said.. you get what you pay for
-
Starting out... I'd wait till I see the front site... get your thumb up on the safety as you push the gun out...dis-engage when you see the front site... build some good habits and techniques now... so you don't have to unlearn them later ...

Using Lead hardcast ..
180's 6.0 of AA2 loaded to 1.185 169ish
200's 4.3 of AA2 loaded to 1.185 again 169ish
Your results may/will vary.... start lower and work up slowley
This is a very clean and very consistent powder... and meters like a boss in my dillon powder measure...

I prefer 200's but 180's are fine too... really depends on how you want the gun to handle/feel... best bet is to grab 500 each and try it out.. For reloading the general rule I use is Heavy bullet . .fast powder.... lite recoil spring.. like maybe a 12 or 14.. no heavier.. also pay attention to LOA... when making 40 loads for major power factor you will want to be able to run your bullets out to like 1.185 - 1.190...make sure your chamber will accommodate that length..
And ask a lot of questions here and at the range...

Can't go wrong with a 550B .. I've loaded more then 100000 rounds on mine and it functions like a champ...if you plan on loading alot.. the best thing you can do is get several primer tubes... and multiple tool heads..

Anyone think I should move to a slower powder like AA5 or is the barrel just too short to take advantage ???
-
Thanks for the input... seems like more range time with the chrono are in my future...
Anybody got any recipes for Titegroup ???
Thanks

I started this in the SIG forum... actually meant to post it here ...
I recently got a G26 G4 and P250 SC. I figured I'd shoot some ammo see what feels right and start loading my own. (So Far so Good right) .
Settled on 124's FMJ's Loaded up a few hundred under 4.1 of AA2 at 1.150 with federal small pistol primers.
Using a Dillon 550 B with a Lee U sizing die and a Lee Factory Crimp die.
I chamber check and plunk check all the ammo... no issues
Day at the range,
Shooting the P250SC no issues.. runs like a champ throws brass about 5 feet from my feet and is reasonable accurate...
g 26 ... My better 1/2 starts shooting and gets numerous FTF's...double feeds.. stove pipes you name it..
I tell her to hold the gun tighter and eliminate about 1/2 of the issues..
I load up a couple mags and same thing.. can't get through a full mag without some type of stoppage..the brass barely makes it out of the gun.. and typically lands right at my feet...
If this were one of my match guns I'd probably lighten the recoil spring..
I loaded some lighter loads (3.8 of AA#2) and they run great in the Sig.. but choke in the G 26
Are these guns really this finicky ?
And for what it is worth.. the G 26 handles factory ammo with no issues...
More powder in the case ?? Slower Powder ??? Get another Sig ???
Inquiring minds want to know ..
TIA

First step is to determine what is causing it to happen. Are you bullets bumping the slide stop ? (If so you can generally polish that back to prevent it...Are you manually bumping it ? Do you have a detent in it ?
-
I shot .451 in hardcast for years... lot of years.. no accuracy or function issues.. if going with a soft lead head you are probably safe at .452.. for best results.. slug the bore ....
-
Definitely try to load to 130-135. those few points of power factor are not going to kill you ..and should get to where you need to be for anybody's chrono. Back when we had only 2 divisions and I shot major... PF was 175 and we loaded to 180-185... I remember chronoing to PF 205 on a someone else's chrony.... back home I was like 182 ... they all thought I was very macho.... and I was beating the crap of my gun ...

One of the things that helped me out a lot was to determine what type of stages I shot well on.. were they static .. did they have a lot of movement..??
Talking with some of the better shooters in my neck of the woods... Being able to shoot fast is sometimes not the big challenge.. getting good stage performance comes by what you are doing when you are not shooting ... ie.. transitions... moving to another target array...reloading... waiting on a swinger...
Basically the way to improve your times lies in practice and probably getting some GREAT coaching.. it doesn't take much but someone with a good eye can help you be aware of what you need to do to improve your times...
Have fun....

Guys.. keep in mind while reaction time is great it is only one part of the equation... deliberate efficient movement can make a HUGE difference...
Remember the old mantra..
"Slow is smooth.....Smooth is fast..."
Also averaged 23 years old on the timer at 60 on the planet
Why clean your brass?
