  1. I have both duramags and Atlas in 17 and 21. I use the dura mags when I want the slide to lock back and the atlas all other tmes. So far 7 or 8 thousand rounds and no issues...
  2. Thanks everyone for the input.... still not sure what I am going to do but probably will not include a casefeeded for a 550 .
  3. Thinking about a casefeeder for my 550. I am guessing I can pick up a little speed with one. Thought about a 750 with all the trimmings but the $$$ scared me away given all the accessories I'd need to handle the different calibers I shoot. (38/357,9mm,40.45acp possibly 556. Can anyone share actual expierence with what you have and guidance with what I should get ... Inquiring minds need to know
  4. I ran a bunch of measurements and decided that 1.140 is about where the prodigy likes it, my X5 I can load out to 1.165 or so and no issues so I think we are going to stick to 1.14 for a while... Joe
  5. Trying some Blue 147's in my prodigy, curious about what LOA do you guys think works well. Am basically to 126-127 PF and currently running 1.130 ... Inquiring minds want to know ;0
  6. CMC,Metalform and MecGar all made 10 or 11 rnd mags for single stacks... back in the 90's is was not unusual to see guys running single stack 1911's in 45 acp shooting limited.. I still have a small pile of them in my gun safe..
  7. Has anyone come up with a solution for putting Adjustable Iron Sights on a stock Prodigy sight plate ???? Why they chose those dovetail dimensions I'll never understand..
  8. Me too Sharko, I am going to ask Springfield if they will sell me a Iron Sight Plate and if yes I will have the dovetali welded uo and remilled to a bomar or novak cut...
  9. Pretty sure... but I could be wrong.. it happened once before..
  10. I am looking to replace the fixed rear on the Irons Plate with something adjustable. Springfield got back to me with the dimensions "The rear sight cut is- .194” cut X 40-degree x .419” tall". So now looking for someone who makes a sight to match that cut.... don;t think it is a Novak...
  11. Does anyone know of a rear adjustable sight that you can put on a Prodigy ??? Like what the dimensions of the rear dove tail are ?? Inquiring minds want to know...
  12. Thanks for the insights Trip to the range tomorrow... I put a little tension on the extractor so we shall see ...
  13. I have a old school Para P-14 that has the most annoying issue. For any loads I shoot (major/minor) 200 LSWC/230/250's the gun will trap the brass from the last round between the slide and the barrel hood. This only happens on the last round in the mag. I happens on all of my mags and I typically use grahams followers and springs, typically a 14# recoil spring for 165+ power factor and 11# for any minor loads. For 200's I load to 1.240 230 I load to 1.250 and for 250s I load to 1.185 Any insight into these issues and how to resolve them will be appreciated.
  14. Pretty much what everyone else is saying.. Corn Cob and any decent polishing product for brass .. then set it and forget it for a while .....
  15. I haven't run Clays.. .but I ran AA#2 for years behind 200's, gun runs nice and pretty clean, am sure there is info out there for Clays as well.
  16. When I got into the game.. I had little choice... Open or Limited.. I started shooting limited with a colt combat commander with 10 round mags.. upgraded to a brand mew customized Spring Field Mil-Spec... still shooting those 10 rd mags... eventually got nice used P-14... Basically what you want to do is find a gun you can shoot comfortabaly and well, find a division you like.. sounds like you have the gear for limited... go with the STI.. get some more match experience... then you can just switch it up when you want.. seems like L10 - SS and possibly Prod will help you keep things fresh.....
  17. I run 1.185 in my STI , if running a stock 40 barrel you have to have the chamber cut deeper to accommodate the longer length.
  18. 200 Hardcast over 4.3 of AA2 1.185 Am Testing 200 Blue Bullets over 4.4 of AA2 1.185 and will advise .. Good luck and remember the Chrono
  19. Best bang for the buck for me has been CMC Shooting Stars.. I have a bunch of stainless metalforms from when I used to shoot limited with my single .. never had any problem with either... the always ran and still run... Can't go wrong for 20 bucks a pop
  20. RL 550B Casefeeder: No Experience: 20+ years Average Rounds/Hour, Pistol:450-500 - 40 & 45 Using 5 primer pickup tubes.. with some good Bonnie Raitt on the ipod
  21. I use around 6.0 of AA5 for 200 LSWC Federal 150's at 1.125 - always makes major - shoots clean soft... use a Chrono for you particular firearm...
  22. I heard a rumor that my local cabelas had primers in stock.. at least small pistol/small rifle... What a suprise to see full shelves... Winchester/CCI/S&B some federal. The store guide asked if I needed any help.. and I asked if he had whole cases or should I just grab them off the shelves.. I think he was a little surprised them I grabbed 5 K small and 5K large primers... price was not great but it was not robbery either.....
