Shay was great to work with, always answered any of my questions and put up with me. I spent over an hour on the phone with him when I ordered it, asking him questions, he asked me several questions about my shooting style, what I like and don't like about the gun I was shooting then, etc, etc and used that information to make suggestions on what he would build me. My Open Katana in 9mm has been flawless out of the box. It just runs. And my questions after delivery have been answered without issue. My build took 6 months and 3 weeks and 3 months of that was waiting on SV for a slide. He built an Open for a good friend of mine and it will be here this week. He told my friend 6 months, turned it around in only 2!

They were 40 a thousand when this happened 4 or 5 years ago here so really, they haven't gone up.

I tried using a rotary light dimmer on both the input and output. It worked but for some reason never fully shut off. It would make a slight buzzing all the time.
I ended up ordering the correct part for my own piece of mind. I didn't want to destroy a $300.00 toy over 45 bucks or so.

I got mine from Manny last year right before Nationals. I REALLY like it!
Mr. Chirpy, I may be at CC on the 31st if the weather isn't horrible and I can sneak away on the holiday. You check it out in person if I make it.

I've really been digging Frog Lube. I like the paste on the rails, lugs, etc and the liquid on the sear, disco and hammer hooks.
It stays put, wipes off when you're cleaning and no chemical smell to irritate your pets, kids, or semi significant other.

Sounds like a case of too much furniture Chris! Conrad would most likely accept the offending table for firewood at the C'ville March match.

The Extreme Engineering / Cylinder and Slide parts are pretty top notch.

Shot Production 6 months, went to Open. Never looked back.

Replace it with a grade 8 bolt from the hardware store and put purple or blue loctite on it.

My experience is that older STI mags work just fine in the SV steel grip, newer don't. I run a Grams built STI 170 with 100% reliability in my SV steel grip. Some newer ones won't go in the grip. The only to know for sure is try them.
If you're getting a new SV, just get mags with it and be happy. MHO.

Are they all the same brand of brass ??? Some are thicker than others which can sometimes cause problems.
Or just crappy brass. I had a bunch of off center bullets like the ones on the right using RP brass until I got a Redding competition seating die.

If you're going to try this... just make sure you practice it A LOT before doing it at a match. A gentleman on my squad tried it at Nationals... and missed. The mag hit the mag well and spun the gun around breaking the 180. That was the end of his match.

For lead I've been using JD Sales...

For jacketed, Montana Gold.
Both have always been great to deal with.

Maybe take a look at the Speer Gold Dot 124 +P short barrel. It's listed at over 1100 FPS.

Glad to know Norton is still evil software. Back when I used to do quite a bit of system build / upgrade work and troubleshooting the first question when someone was having issues was, "Do you have anything Norton installed?" I got real good at performing "Nortonectomies".

Just spoke with Chris at Metaloy. Wow, he's a really nice guy! Took the time to answer all my questions too. Their hardchrome thickness is .0002" on the surface.
Is that the place in Arizona?

The original is on Spike right now, LOL! I've never seen it either. I was 12 when it came out.

Now back to work on a Monday & they tell us we're all getting iPhones for our new company phones ....... (this from a die-hard Android user!) How will I ever get accustomed to the different operatign system?
That's going to be harder than going back to irons! I saw a video that explained how to run Android on an iPhone. Something to think about!

Range Master?

I doubt you could get Velcro on one for a S_I gun but package sealing tape works.

Up sixty cents a gallon in a week. You do the math.

Glad it's not just me. Stock Android browser.

You really wanna be surprised, check SV. They're quoting 18 months and it's almost always longer.
Shay at Akai, Matt and I'm sure some others are full time builders / smiths. They aren't assembly lines. We need and practically demand 100% reliability and that doesn't come from just slapping parts together. If it did, we'd all be doing it. These guys know that .002" here .0005" there is too much or not enough and that kind of precision doesn't just happen. Not to mention getting the parts. My Akai took right at 7 months. Three months of that was waiting for a slide and two weeks+ for chrome. The actual time the gun was "in process" was only a tad over 4 months.
There are some shorter wait (build time) guys out there that build good guns... but you supply the parts.
Look around, see what you want and make some calls. I'm sure you can find exactly what you're looking for.

Everybody knows you can't win with a Tanfo. What would you get one of those for?! LOL!
Sharp blaster. Shoot it like you stole it!

Airsoftforum.com is a pretty decent place. I've asked some questions there and got useful, polite answers.
