Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. New to the reload scene and looking at the powder checker I see that the old models came with three of the powder check rods and one looks like it would be big enough for 45-70. At some point I will be loading that cal. and read that it is hard to see into the case for powder check. Can you order this rod because all of the new kits only seem to have two rods. Any information appreciated. Also I guess you would have to buy a checker for each tool head. That could get expensive. I doubt I would ever add a bullet feeder so I will always have the extra hole?
  2. I am a newbie to the reload scene. Any help appreciated. I followed the topics and post; I am still confused. Apparently, there is a past problem with the powder assembly getting in the way of a bullet feeder and the shifting of the powder bar etc. First of all, I am looking at a picture of a Dillon Quick Change Assembly on Scheels. It shows to have the two-spring setup in the picture. I saw a video rant that addressed a change to the system in 2000 removing the springs and using the fail-safe rod. Has Dillon recanted and moved back to the original spring system? The other question is, do I need a powder drop such as an Alpha dropper powder funnel or is everything included in the quick-change purchase. Also, what type of powder funnel will I need to change calibers or will the small or large powder bar take care of this. Somewhat confused. I am waiting on the 750 purchase and just gathering Acessories. Help and Advice, Welcomed! Hawk Eyes Hudson
  3. Hey Ysrracer, I am using Redding; I just started that way. No way to get Dillon. How many shell holders do I need on each caliber for a 5 stage on my Dillon 750? I am clueless. Also, one die set calls for #9 shell holder, and I cannot find that anywhere, yet. I have already ordered the Dillon conversion kit for 4 calibers. Thanks, HEW
  4. Do Lee and Redding dies work well on a 750 and Dillon Shell plates?
  5. Hey HesedTech, Great information. I have a range of weapons in various calibers. Unfortunately I am the all or nothing guy. I have read about starting up slow but just not my Porte. When I get acclimated with loading I will want to produce around a thousand cal's per session on any one caliber. 223/556, 9mm, 5.45 x 39 and various cowboy loads. So, I got to jump in with both feet. I sure there is one but I need to find a site that gets specific with die descriptions and usage in the press and plates and other items I am unfamiliar with. I am going to purchase various components to build my die sets and then at an opportune time buy the press. My next purchase is the Inline Fabrication press mount. I need a place that shows me the basics so that I can make decisions. Do not want to buy something I cannot use or will find obsolete. I do not need a bullet feeder at this time but I can see that in my future. Anywhose, input along that line would be helpful. There is a company "Badman Bullets" that I will start with the polymer coated bullet they recommend and give it a start on the bullet acquisition. I will probably buy the case feeder somewheres before the press. It may be a bad place to start, its just the way I roll! Thanks
  6. I enjoy almost all forms of the shooting sport. CAS is one of my favorites. You are not just setting on a stool or bench and hitting a target. You are moving and shooting in various positions and running against a timer. With various pistol, rifle and a few shotguns. I shoot 357/38spl, 44Mag/44spl and 44-40 WCF an 45 ACP. I live in Texas and have traveled some of the world. Europe, Mexico, Philippines and the like. Born in Oklahoma raised in Texas. The only way I would leave Texas is in a pine box. On that day I will be buried in my hometown in Oklahoma. Any-whose I have decided not to rely on commercial supply lines for ammo. Shortages and wait times and out of stock. Yes I know the problems with just getting parts for loaders and shortages of powder, primers, brass and the like but when you do fine it you can snap it up. I like the idea of buying and stocking up. I am perplexed a the fact that certain dies for the Dillon 750 are out of stock with no backorder guesstimate on delivery. I get all that but the prepared loader should be able to steer around these given time and not at the total mercy of supply and demand cost. I am extremely new to reloading but have watched many videos and settled on the Dillon XL750 for my first venture. Unfortunately I as of yet cannot find just exactly what I would need to start up that press for the above mentioned calibers. I want to buy a press and than start with the 357/38spl any listing to the actually needed parts and especially aftermarket such Double Alpha and other products that are better than Dillon. What exactly do I need along the lines of quick change setups and dies ect do I need to get first per each caliber. This is my start and I will learn along the way
