AK pistol...8.5" with a comp...it just goes boom, that's about it.

But honestly, super soft shooting with a big flash!

My non-comped AK pistol (Yugo M92) is so loud one of the match directors drove up, while I was shooting, opened his truck door, immediately closed it, and wouldn't get out of the truck until I stopped shooting :)

The provisional rules say "any" division which is pretty nice since it's one of the only divisions that is actually more permissive than the comparable USPSA division.

The rules seem to have been updated since I made that statement.  That link still works but when you go to the IDPA rules page you are offered a different document which is dated 08/10/18.  I'm not sure when it was posted but that is 10 days before I linked to that other document.  Who knows.  Either way the new doc is here:

It states that you must comply with ESP division and has options for use of lasers as well as red dot or "reflex" sights.  It also defines CO as a Specialty Division...

PLUS, shooting a 32-round field course with a revolver just doesn't

    sound like FUN.

This is where IDPA Revolver works very well.  The average course is half as many rounds and I, personally, have fun navigating these courses with a revolver.  Far too many ICORE matches that I've shot seem to have courses with extra non-sense thrown in to "get the round count up".  This includes stages with "shoot these targets 6 times each" sorts of requirements as well as stages where we repetitively reengage the same targets from multiple locations.  By the time we get to score these excessively shot up targets the scoring lines are hidden under a blur of tape and the task of assigning a fair score becomes difficult if not impossible.

I would also add that the scoring being straight time plus puts too much emphasis on some stages and minimizes the importance of others.  Going to stage points to calculate match score would be an improvement.

    Not speed of Reloading   ...

The speed with which you pull down the handle (the force used).

If you pull slowly (less force) , you may get less powder fall into the charge bar,

and be different if you pull the handle quickly -   consistency of the pull could

    cause some of your problem.

I also use a lot of WW231 - usually meters very well    :)

Really its the dwell time while the powder measure is open.  You want to pause, let the powder drop fully from the bar, and then push the handle back up.

  5. Whatever load you choose you might want to get the X-Frame grip for your 625.  It fits and it covers the backstrap to help negate the extra recoil from the higher power factor.  I've got it on my 627 and 625 now and all my fancy "big butt" grips sit in a box.

I found that the spring attachment point on the ring indexer had cracked.   In fiddling with it, it broke completely off.   I guess it's time for a call to Dillon.

I'm sure they'll suggest you get the spare parts kit.  To me it's worth the small price to have my price back up and running while I wait for the new spare parts in the mail.  https://www.dillonprecision.com/xl-650-spare-parts-kit_8_113_23824.html

The problem is that when I chrono, the difference was the lowest being 896 fps to a high of 998 fps.

Admittedly the 8 rounds I chrono'd had a mix of new brass, once fired and old brass I have been using for 2 years now. Would it then be a factor of the brass and not actually the powder charge?

Using brass with the same headstamp will help but there is a possibility that other factors are at play.  Did you weigh the projectiles?  You don't have to weigh them all but a sample of 20 or so might give you an idea of how consistent they are.  You might also measure the projectiles both for length and diameter.  Are these weights and measures consistent or are they all over the place?  Even really good bullets will have some variances.  Lastly you might want to check the load you are using.  Most powders are more consistent at one given charge weight than they are at another.  Maybe a little greater or lesser amount of powder will result in a better burn and lower deviation in velocity.

  8. I used to shoot my 627 with a red dot in Open at local matches and it was a lot of fun.  If you've never shot an open revolver you should try it.  There is basically zero dot movement and the guns can be insanely accurate with the dot.

If USPSA allowed optics on revolvers it couldn't hurt participation at this point.  Open shooters like to pretend that USPSA is a "heads up" shooting event anyway so why not make it reality in Revolver division and have a "run what you brung" division?  If they went on to allow 32 caliber revolvers I know a couple of shooters that would probably show up and make some people scratch their heads trying to figure out how that revolver shooter just got off 9 or 10 shots without a reload.

I used to have an issue with only being able to put 100-200 9mm casings in the case feeder at a time. Ive found that using a gauged torque wrench and setting it to 5 inch/pounds and using that to tighten the clutch seems to work perfect . I can press down on the plate and cause the clutch to slip like its supposed to and can now put up to 800 9mm casings in it at time. Figured I would post it in case it helps anyone else

Good point.  I experienced pretty much the same results before and after tightening the clutch.  It's also a good idea to clean the bowl and plate off every once in awhile.  Gummy isn't conducive to smooth functioning.

Just...wow! Carry Optics IS a separate (provisional) division in IDPA, and has been for several months. I've competed in many local matches and even a sanctioned match in CO.

Sorry you couldn't find the information you needed. It's right here: http://members.idpa.com/Content/Rules/a3nozfcz.rcs.pdf

I don't know why they don't just update the PDF of the rule book to include all of the items on this page http://members.idpa.com/Rules/Home

It's annoying to have to cross reference so many documents.

and isn't the prohibition against 'heavy' barrels, not necessarily barrels labeled as 'bull'?  eg sig 320x5?

That seems to be the case but the STI guns definitely have cone shaped bull barrels which is not allowed.

I seem to recall a video a few years ago with someone who slid under a wall to get to the final position rather than running around.  I remember thinking I'm not sure the potential road rash would be worth it, since it looked like a loose gravel bay.  I don't remember what the consensus was on the legality of the maneuver, although it was performed safely wrt the gun handling.

I think you mean this video.  If not this is a pretty good example.
