  1. I've used pliers of all sorts to moonclip ammo and it works just fine.  My wife gave me a BMT Mooner and while it does have it's challenges I've gotten used to it and use it almost exclusively now.  The pliers and my old tube style demooners still get some use but the BMT tool gets the most use.

  2. Some comments removed.  Lets keep this with the posting guidelines.  If anyone needs a refresher you can find them here:  https://forums.brianenos.com/guidelines/

    Posting Guidelines

    Attitude
Please be polite. Or if not polite, at least respectful.
No bickering. Regardless of the subject matter.
Antagonistic, offensive, or quarrelsome tones are not acceptable.
    No trolling. No alternate accounts.

  3. Vic Pickett, a long time competitor in ICORE and USPSA, passed away Monday, April 29th.  Vic had been suffering from a disease known as Transverse Myelitis.  Many of you may have known Vic from his work as Rangemaster for the Area 2 Desert Classic and Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun both of which he worked for many years.  He will be missed.

  4. I refuse to consider the value of a rebate in any purchasing decision.

Is it a good deal prior to the rebate?

Yes?  Then I'll buy it and send in the rebate form hoping for a bonus.

No?  Yeah, I'll keep shopping looking for an actual deal.

Either way I get why you hate this.

  5. From the Hate Forum Guidelines, which can be found right at the top of this forum,

"We have members here that work at most of the big established places (like the Post Office or Walmart, etc.). We have people here in a variety of professions (like LEO's, doctors and lawyers, etc).

    Don't bash a group."

First, you need to do some wiring on the 110V/230V system. Then code an Arduino using a PC and wire up the sensors to get it working. To me it's not complicated but you need some technical insight.

No, first I need to Google "Arduino"!  It sounds like something you might order at one of those fancy coffee shops, "I'll have a Vente Arduino two creams, hold the sugar".

PCC dudes bragging about winning HOA at a club match is lame!  Just like if an open shooter does it.

"Congratulations,.... You're using gear that is a huge advantage. You should beat shooters using less advantageous gear"!

    I shoot open BTW.

    ^^^THIS^^^

I think HOA should only be published if the winner is shooting in a capacity restricted division.

  8. I've shot quite a few "gotcha" stages where it wasn't clear how to shoot it without getting hit with penalties.  I can't think of how many times I've seen targets placed just far enough apart that you couldn't easily tell if they were equal threat or not.  I shouldn't have to ask the SO how we're supposed to engage a target and I shouldn't have to carry a tape measure in my range bag (okay, I don't do that really) just to know how to shoot a stage.

If you haven’t bought one yet, go and try one. Borrow one, steal one, whatever you have to do. They give a pretty stiff kick to be honest. Not something I would try to teach anyone on.

But for IDPA it’s a great choice.

The S&W X-Frame grips help with the recoil but smaller hands don't work well with that grip.

The tac journal has absolutely the worst content I’ve ever seen. Robert Ray writes at perhaps a 9th grade level, and the articles sent in to review The Des Moines 1st Regional Charity Classic aren’t any more readable.

Yet it is still better than most of what you'll find at newstands and it is competition shooting oriented, which is what the OP was seeking out.  Will it help you fight your way from Orange Mound to Germantown?  Probably not, but it still has some useful info if you shoot IDPA.

the cowboy-action-type power factors seem a bit silly to me

The 105 PF for Revo was instituted because factory 38 Special ammo tends to be weak.   For example Winchester White Box 38 Special +P 125gr JHP is advertised as making 945 fps which works out to about 118 pf.  I don't know what length barrel that is shot out of but it doesn't even make ICORE PF.
