Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I am certain that during reloading, the brass will be fine. And it hasn't yet affected reliability of the gun. The gun is just new, and my first 1911, so wondering if it is a problem I need to worry about. Sounds like probably not. I did some additional searching on the Interwebs (since that info is always accurate.) Seems that slight flattening of cases coming out of some guns (particularly 1911's) is fairly common. I will take the suggestion and mark the cases next time so I can see where the flattening/nick is being done relative to the top of the case.
  2. Just got my new Trojan 9mm last night. Cleaned/oiled it up and headed to the range. Put about 200 rounds through it - not a single failure. My XDm wasn't even that reliable out of box. Able to put 10 rounds in less than a 1.5" circle at 15 yards off sandbags. And I wasn't even trying very hard. Obviously much more accurate than I am. One question - about half my brass has - Small flattened side at the mouth of the case. - Small nick in the brass on the case mouth. Hardly enough to see but you can feel it by running your finger over it. Any ideas?
  3. lol....VV310. You guys got way too much time on your hands. I just run a purple sharpie across the case bottoms after I box them up. One swipe across the box marks 10 at a time. No way I have time to do each case separately. I agree though, with your method I wouldn't even have to bend down to see which brass is mine on the ground.
  4. Confused. You are asking if Lee products are bad but you say you have several and think they are good?
  5. Sights, trigger job, grip tape, solid steel guide rod (not tungsten), recoil spring matched to bullets and grip.
  6. 115gr FMJ 4.9gr W231 OAL "1.150" 124gr FMJ 4.1gr W231 OAL "1.125" Both loads work perfect in my XDm 9.
  7. I have used both of the following in my XDm 9. Work perfectly. 115gr FMJ W231 powder, 4.9gr OAL 1.15" 124gr FMJ W231 powder, 4.1gr OAL 1.125" All assorted brass I pick up at ranges. Remember SAMMI spec for 9mm is 1.169" so you seem to be loading pretty short. Is that length prescribed for your recipe or are you just guessing? 9mm case is not that big, especially with a bulky powder. Be careful of too short, can cause pressure to increase rapdily.
  8. See if you can find a Ruger Rimfire competition. Lots of fun - and where I shoot you don't even need a rifle. They let me shoot the rifle events with my pistol.
  9. Nice. That's like buying a new car cause I just found a deal on tires - but they don't fit my current car. I like that. Anyone know where I can acquire a large quantity of anchor chain? I can then buy myself a new sailboat to fit it in. Sweet. I wonder if my wife would fall for that logic. Worth a try.
  10. I've got an XDm and have several thousand rounds through it - no problems. It eats anything, hasn't broken a thing = no issues. Don't listen to those with opinions that are based on other's opinions - only owners know the real story.
  11. This is how I see it as well. It depends on what you intend to use it for, and how many guns you want to compete with. I use my XDm 9 in both IDPA ESP and USPSA Production - and it is competitive if both, the problem is me. I also have the option to shoot USPSA Limited (if I don't mind scoring minor). A 9mm gives me options and costs less to shoot. You would have even more options with an M&P 9 as you could shoot IDPA SSP or ESP. I like having options and I am cheap (plus have 3 teenage daughters, college expenses, etc.) so it works for me, for now. Your results may vary.
  12. Seriously, this is very healthy. Not only does the shooter learn from the DQ, but also those witnessing it; and hearing about in constructive forums like this one. I have only seen a few DQ's, but everytime I do it causes me to remind myself yet again about safe gun handling. Complacency will hurt someone. Now stop forkin' around and get back to work.
  13. stick you with a fork, cuz you're done. Quick forkin' around. You forked up. Alright, enough fork jokes.
