My parents actually quit smoking!

My mother made a decision during the summer to quit smoking after 50+ years, taking my dad along for the ride. They were easily 3 pack a day people.

They tried the patch, and that got them down to a few cigarettes a day, usually just a puff or two and then put away for later.

Last time I checked, they were in a holding pattern, still smoking a few a day but no longer on the patch.

Last night at my boys birthday party, they shared that they have been smoke free for the last 2 1/2 weeks.

Prior to this, quite frankly I figured we were just a few years away from a funeral or two. Mom could barely breath some days, and dad had a constant cough for the last 5-6 years.

Things are looking up!
