Pittbug
Kyle helped me Chrono some of the loads today and the results were quite interesting. Someone in this thread had mentioned case capacity being an issue, so I picked out groups of 10 loaded in winchester, federal and CCI cases with the same base load: 3.5gr clays 230gr MG RN, 1.260 OAL, CCI primer: Winchester case: 511.4 avg fps, 32.6 SD, 104.9 ES Federal case: 509.7 avg fps, 23.6 SD, 81.4 ES CCI case: 525.5 avg fps, 21.5 SD, 65 ES Next was 3.6gr clays with winchester cases (they're the most numerous headstamp I have). 546.7 avg fps, 26.3 SD, 99.7 ES Then 180gr moly coated RNFP from billy bullets with 4.0gr clays 705.6 avg fps, 19.1 SD, 53.3 ES Then 4.2gr clays with the 180gr 754.3 avg fps, 15.3 SD, 40.8 ES The ES is so high with the 230 loads that PF can fall anywhere between 120PF - 132PF if you take the slowest and fastest 3 rounds. The 3 slowest federal work out to 112PF! The 180s were much more consistent in this regard, esp the 4.2gr load, falling between 133-139 PF.
