astephenson
Shot my first IDPA match with a revolver yesterday. I picked up the 686SSR about a week ago and I've dry-fired it till I have a blister on my finger. I'm classified SS in SSP but not classified in SSR yet. The first few stages were rough (I had very little live-fire time before the match- only about 70 rounds or so) but by the last stage I was getting a feel for it. I saw the sights lift, which rarely happened when shooting SSP. The last stage was an 18-rounder. My time was 18.32 with 2 points down. Here's youtube video: (pointers would be great!) nashvillebill
Looks good. The only thing I noticed is you could get in position as you reload. Tough to do I know when you are just getting use to the new reload style, but something to work on.
astephenson
Yeah, I saw that after watching the video. Thanks, Bill.
iainmcphersn
Well done Alex! My few attempts at shooting revolver have been laughable... Excellent to see you on these forums as well. John Ellis
lugnut
SSR reloads scare me. But someday I'll give it a whirl too. Glad you had a great time!

Duane Thomas
I saw the sights lift, which rarely happened when shooting SSP. One of the really great things about switching from shooting an auto pistol to a revolver is that suddenly the sights aren't whipping back and forth with every shot. If you've trained to follow the sights on an auto while shooting at warp speed, watching a revolver front sight that just....sits there is so easy it almost feels like cheating.
