Krag
My standard lead reload (115 gr. + 4.2 gr. Bullseye) shoots like a dream in my Glock 34 with aftermarket barrel, but the same load out of my Beretta Elite is keyholing at 10 yards. Can anyone suggest some loads I can try. I'd prefer to stay with Bullseye or WW231 if possible.
Patrick Sweeney
I've run into this problem with some 9mm. The problem is the fast-burning powder. A lead bullet with Bullseye keyholes in half my 9mm's. (Yes, I own a bunch of them. I ain't proud, but in todays world you've got to have what the students have in order to teach.) The solution was a slower powder, and WW-231 was right at the threshold. Some 9's stopped keyloing with 231, but others didn't. The solution I found was (curiously enough) AA#5. Not with any attempt to make Major, but just to get accurate loads (and some were real tackdrivers.) I'd try the 231. If it doesn't work, then I'll dig out the #5 info and post it. (I may already have, a search would turn it up.)
ErikW
Ditto. This is also mentioned in an older thread. My problem was with lead 125 and Bullseye. Switch bullets or switch powder. Or both. W231 should work. If you are going to buy new powder get Vihtavuori N330.
