Jon Merricks
I saw that Eric G is using 8 Hybrids in a V8 pattern. Has anybody else tried this? What are some spec's? I have shot them on the SA 45's but nothing high speed.
Flexmoney
Seems to me like they ought to work. You end up with mini-ports, instead of the larger ports that we are used to seeing. But, the mini-ports are being used more often now days. With the V-pattern, you get two ports in a shorter distance. Might not get as much down pressure as a straight up port though. And, it will bleed more gas. I have thought of them (I still haven't sent my Open Glock off to Brian H. for porting).
Jon Merricks
Eric describes his gun is like shooting a 22. Doesnt sound like anything I've shot. Flex, You got any idea what size holes, how far apart and angle from TDC?
Flexmoney
I originally thought 45 degrees from the top...but, I think that is too much (just guessing here). I am thinking 30 degrees might be better. I would think the Popple/TJ sized holes would work. (3/16 ?) (Maybe somebody will happen along that actually knows...or knows what the Springfield V's are milled to.)
Jon Merricks
I just got off the phone with a friend that said he thought Jerry B. tried this way back when mag na porting (sp)? was big. Said that the holes straight up were found to be the most efficient. Go figure. But the PF was higher and comps were diffrent, too.
Flexmoney
Jon, Have you looked at the thread from Eric G's site? http://grauffel.free.fr/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23 Here is the pic that Eric G. posted of his gun. "Today I am using a V8 Hybrid, and each holes are 2mm diameter.." "Compensator is a 3 ports, with side ports. "
Jon Merricks
Thanks, I have not seen that, and he is running a *thumb rest [generic]* too. What's funny is I've heard the V8 dont work, dont put you index finger on the trigger gaurd and never have your thumb push or ride the frame. Next someone will tell me Eric d#$%le t@&s(one sight picture two shots).
mcoliver
Heck, did you know he closes one eye for 15 yard or longer shots?

Steve Anderson
I've been inspired by Eric G. to shoot without emotion. I'll elaborate soon in a new post, if anyone cares... SA

spook
Steve, I'd be interested. I've been playing around with the emotionless shooting too for some time now.
Boom-Boom
This page shows how a home gunsmith makes V-8's. http://www.blindhogg.com/gunsmith/porting.html I think he mentions on one of his other pages that his dimensions are based on the Springfield V's so this might have some pertinent information.
